INSULATING A FREEZER LID

I bought a freezer second hand when I got it home the seal was not sealed and the plastic was detached so I thought I could just seal it with sealent but then the insulation fell out it was extremly iced and wet so I through it out but would like to replace it,dont know with what kind and the one they had had paper on the back which way should I put it in the paper over the wires on the metal side or towards the plastic cover side. And should I really put insullation over wires.?or just around it?

I have a Frigidaire freezer that is about 5 years old. I get ice build up inside the top of the door. The door appears to be closed.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

1.) Due you have the freezer in your garage? Freezers and refrigerators are not designed for the drastic temperature change through the seasons. If you had a service contract, your contract would be canceled.

2.) If you can run a piece of paper between the top door gasket and the freezer body you do not have a tight seal. Repair - Recondition the gasket. Wet the door gasket with water, with a hairy dryer heat the gasket while genteelly pulling the gasket out to expand with a spatula.

3.) If the gasket is good, then you are getting moisture either thru the top front of the unit or the top of the door.
a.) Inspect the liner where the ice build-up is. Are there cracks? Repair - Seal cracks with a good silicone adhesive.
b.) Inspect the upper door section and the front top of the freezer for possible leaks in the joints. Here again seal with adhesive.
c.) If the top of the door is expanded, then you have moisture in the door and need to replace the door. You will never get the moisture out of the insulating material.

We just bought a chest freezer and the suction is so tight can't open the lid .What do we need to do.

Most likely it isn't the suction but moisture on your seal freezing to the frame. Suggest a putty knife with a hair dryer blowing hot air on the blade and working it around the seal.

I own a RCA Whirlpool Chest Freezer, Model #ERH 16S. I defrosted freezer a week ago. It seems to have been running since then. The inside has more ice on it now, than before I defrosted. Would you have...

I have the same problem. Could be 2 things. 1) The top lid may not be all the way down sealing. I had to out some weights on top to make it seal better.
2) The lid seal could be cracked, partial missing or just not sealing. Good luck trying to find a new seal. I'm still looking.

Bought new 8.8 stand up magic c freezer can't get dr open

Bought the same freezer from Home Depot, door would not open did find with a bit of detective work that if you place your fingers between the door gasket and the shell of the freezer you can break the glue type seal then door works fine. You must go across top and down both sides.

Condensation forms around the freezer opening, between the rim and the seal.

The lid is warped or the seal is bad and leaking air.
Determine which it is and replace the seal or the lid.

Red and Orange light staying on on my whirlpool chest freezer

try a total defrost,to clear any internal ice(every 12 months)then switch on and if you have a rapid freeze button leave on for 24 hours to get back to normal operating temp.if you have hard ice around the door seals then you have an air leak which you must sort out(try using a hot cloth to warm seals back into shape.....seals should fit all round, all the time.

Ice crystals forming on inside front freezer panel

Very possible the door seal is not properly sealed. Warm inflowing air onto a cold coil will cause ice build up at the lid.

Chest freezer ices up quicker than it should

if the box has mold between the seal and liner the the seal isn't the main problem, the main problem is the liner is bad and by time you got both parts if you can it would cost more than to replace the freezer.
