Apart from loosing tv channel memory ,it workes like a gem.
Something in the set's microprocessor (just like a computer only smaller) serves this function.
A way around it if you have cable or a sat box is route the signal from the box to one of the rear sets of audio/video jacks on rear of TV and bypass the issue completely--leave set on that input and change channels with the box............
fixing that loss of memory will not be cheap.............

Kingscott,
Make sure the cable connection from the dish to the tv is
connected to the antenna/cable input and not the digital
input. Turn on the satellite receiver then auto program the
set with the receiver still on. If this fails to lock in channel
3 your suspicion regarding a faulty tuner could be correct.
A good way to check the tuner operation would be to hook
up another product such as a VCR with the rear switch set
for channel 3 and see if you can receive a picture from this
device. If it works the tuner is OK.
You can bypass the tuner by connecting an S-Video cable
and (or) a set of A/V (yellow, red & white) cables from the
output of the satellite receiver to the video 1 input on the tv.
You'll then have to switch the tv source mode to video 1.
Hope this of some help,

SOURCE: TV losing its channel memory
I had the same problem. I replaced the EEPROM marked U33 (it's a 24C32 in a smd package) and the TV worked fine.
BEFORE replacing the EEPROM you have to go into the Service Menu (hold down VOL- and CH+ on the local command) and take a note of all the values, specially the R,G,B gain and R,G,B bias, in the "standard" picture mode as well as in the "Cold" picture as well as in the "Warm" picture mode.
(if you forgot to do this, here are my default values:
R gain: 434
G gain: 482
B gain: 484
R bias: 270
G bias: 270
B bias: 264
then you put the "Cold" image mode and set again those values, increasing the G bias to about 300 and the B bias to about 310.
then put the "Warm" image mode and set again those values, increasing the R bias to about 300 and the G bias to about 280)
The other values such as brightness, contrast etc, have to be left at 50.
I hope this solution will FixYa!
SOURCE: How do i manually add a digital channel to my tv? model: ILO-26HD
do u have the user manual for the TV? if you do the solution will be in there, if not (I suspect you don't) please give the make an model so I can try to look this up, but off the top of head there is no way to "assign channels" to a paticular remote setting.
SOURCE: TV freezes up when turned to channel 33-1
I had the same problem. I also use rabbit ear antenna , no cable or satellite. I was watching ch. 33.1 and the tv turned off by itself. The remote wouldn't work. The power on/off buttons on the side of the tv wouldn't work. I had to un-plug the power cord to turn the tv off. The tv forze on ch. 33.1 when I turned it back on.
I called Vizio, they told me they received hundreds of complaints from people in Texas complain g about these problems.
I was told to un-plug the antenna cable and re-plug it. I did this plus I re-scanned all channels. The problem has been solved, the channel (33.1) no longer freezes and the tv doesn't turn off by itself.
Hope this helps.
