Garmin NUVI 660 and Motorola W755 compatability

I just bought the Motorola W755 phone and I would like to buy a NUVI 660 GPS with bluetooth. Problem is I cannot find out whether or not they are compatible. Garmin is of no help, they do not list this phone as compatible, but they say it might work. The W755 uses BT 2.0, I have no idea about the Garmin. Can anyone help me. Also, what is the deal about downloading software for the Garmis? Thanks

SOURCE: Garmin NUVI 660 BlueTooth

Please try to do these steps:
Turn off Garmin Nuvi
Turn "bluetooth" function OFF (on your cell phone)AND turn off your cell phone
Now, turn on Garmin and make sure bluetooth is in enabled mode
Next, turn on your cell phone AND turn "bluetooth" function ON
Wait about 30 seconds or less, your Nuvi should connect now w/ a phone icon.

I understand, it's such a pain, but it works for me everytime I do this.
Remember, Phone must be off and bluetooth is also off before you turn on your Nuvi.
Good luck!!!

SOURCE: voice not working properly on garmin nuvi 660 - very disdorted

SOURCE: Garmin 660 gps Bluetooth problem

Problem fixed (Thanks to a fantastic support dealer Brian @ (GPSOZ.com.au)
Download latest BT (version 3) with web updater
Connect NUVI to PC, go to dos prompt, change to drive letter of internal GPS , type in chkdsk /f (say N to convert lost links to files), go to maintenance mode, clear user data (ie favourites and phonebooks), go to bluetooh page in maintenance mode, reload BT, restart system, works great for me

SOURCE: audio gone from my gps garmin nuvi 660

If you can hear audio through the headphone jack but not the internal speaker jack, then the speaker is bad.

This is a problem I have seen many times before. I will be posting an article soon on how to replace the internal speaker, however this is not a repair that just anyone can do.

You have to have skills in dissassembly & soldering.

SOURCE: Pairing bluetooth motorola W755 phone to Garmin nuvi 760

I left the Garmin in passive mode and had just the phone do a search for new bluetooth devices and it worked fine. So my advice is , if the Garmin instructions don't work, try this method.

No unlock code for Garmin Nuvi 660

Sorry but that is a security feature. There is a chance you've purchased a stolen unit from ebay. Unfortunately, only Garmin can unlock it and they will require a receipt from a Garmin dealer.

Nuvi 660 + omnia

Hi, version 3.1 is supposed to help with disconnects. Please see this link:

http://www.gpspassion.com/FORUMSEN/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=109459

However, Garmin released 3.4 which will include the changes in 3.1 and also makes the bluetooth compatible with more phones.

You need to go to www.garmin.com and download their webupdater and run it with your Nuvi connected to the PC with a USB cable. It will check (via the Internet) if you need a firmware upgrade. The latest firmware version for a Nuvi 660 is v4.7. There is a second menu after the main firmware option that allows you to select additional software. Select yes and check the bluetooth 3.4 box and the Chipset "G" box if it's shown.. The Chipset "G" is the upgrade for the receiver in the flip-up antenna. Let it download. When finished, select to safely remove the Nuvi. You can now unplug the USB cable. Your Nuvi will reboot and load in the new changes. Whatever you do, don't turn your nuvi off! Let it go and update. You will see it say "Loader", then "Loading Software" and you'll see a task bar that says "Updating Bluetooth Software" and "Updating GPS Software" (if required). Once you get to the main menu and there are no more texts coming up on the screen. Press the power button and turn your unit off and then back on again. Check the GPS and Bluetooth firmware versions in your Nuvi. It should be 3.0 for the GPS and 3.4 for the Bluetooth. Check the firmware version if you selected v4.7. You will have to re-pair your phone with your Nuvi as the update erases any previous set-up. Let me know how it went for you. If you have trouble with this, let me know. I can do it for you. I have done it many times. Please rate my solution if you found it helpful.

Garmin Nuvi 660 shutting off

It sounds like your battery is defective. They can be replaced. The Motorola phone cable is not wired exactly like the Garmin, and your Nuvi thinks it's connected to a PC. Radio Shack carries a charger for the Nuvi. I have one myself.

Let me know if you need additional help with your battery problem.

Nuvi 660

You will have to buy them from Garmin for $69.95 but before you do that read the instruction book and do a FACTORY RESET.
This may bring everything back up.

Need Info

Read the manual and you will be able to connect Bluetooth TO 660 , menu Bluetooth active , be sure you LG phone is active on his bluetooth, connect and recognize will be done , you will see.

GARMIN 660 is working with a battery and also with your car adapter. I don't see any reason why it would not work on battery ?.

Your issue is not clear concerning the battery ?

best regards
