you want. note:as you sad you want the machine to reaceive
faxes when you are out of the office, so the reception mode [Auto Select] is
the most compaible mode for you. The machine can treat incoming fax messages and telephone calls in
three ways. 1.Manual
Receive - Use this mode if your line is
shared by a
fax machine and a telephone but you wish to answer all calls yourself and decide whether they are fax documents or telephone calls. You must manually press the [Start] key to receive a
fax. The machine will ring continuously until you answer the call, so you have to be near the machine at all times. The Manual Receive indicator is lit when the machine is in this mode. 2.
Auto Receive - Use this mode if you have a dedicated fax line. The machine assumes all calls are fax documents. It will ring once to alert you of an incoming call, and then starts receiving. 3.
Auto Select - In this mode, the machine rings a number of times. You can answer the call while the machine is ringing. If you do not answer the call, the machine automatically changes to receive fax messages.
You must have your resolutions set much higher than the default. Scanner: Go to "user tools", "Scanner features", "scan Settings", "default Scan settings", "resolution".....set to 200dpi
Fax: Resolution may be set to "detail" or "fine" by default , rather than "Standard" ...is either light lit? This would dramatically reduce memory capacity. To set this to default standard resolution is a needlessly difficult task. You can either manually turn it off when sending a fax or change the default "user parameter settings" for the "home position". You can find instructions in the Fax manual (Advanced settings). It seems that the protocol is failing. Just check, by printing a receive report. If there are errors it is after the check frame. If no errors, it is failing before the check frame. In either case, 1st aid is to listen using a handset for noise or static on the line. If the line is clear, then you will have to call service to change the tx/rx attenuation.
