I have a 1 year old 32inch LG Plasma that for the past few months keeps shutting off itself but then will power back on. We started to figure out it was happening when the window was open, could be from the humidity in the room? Yesterday it shut off by itself perminantly and will not turn back off. The warranty just expired a month ago. Is it possible or even worth taking to get fixed?
My 32" Plasma originally my daughter's so five yrs old, is not turning on. The reason is the pay as you go electric meter, which can run out without warning if I am not careful. I was away and it run out as I miscalculated, monitor will not come on!!
Last two times this has happened a new fuse did the job and the second time it was just a matter of waiting a couple of days. Please help as I love the tv and my little tv is great but once you have had a LG large screen. Well you know what I mean.. Someone else said this before you said to open and check the fuse, but I think you meant in the tv? Kind regards Molly

Some components in the TV, and most likely in the power supply are starting to become temperature sensitive. Some Capacitors tend to become this way when they age. To find the temperature sensitive caps that are failing it will take a very experienced TV or electronics service person with a supply of liquid air and a heat gun to thermo test. He will also require the proper test equipment to verify. The big service centers should be able to troubleshoot for this, but the time involved and the cost of the parts will be expensive. If the set is out of warranty, it would be more feasible to get a new one!
I've also had a popping noise on our 50" LG plasma TV, however the picture has not gone, but has turned grainy and colors are weird. Can this also be a blown fuse or a more severe problem (ysus board or similar)?
With a problem like this, I would use the warranty for the TV.
It's possible a circuit board failure has occurred and the TV is automatically turning itself off to protect it from further damage. Is normally called " Protection Mode " for most TVs.
Being that it's 2 months old, it should be under warranty regardless. I would recommend contacting the store of where it was purchased and have them help you with the warranty issue.
Since the set is less than 1 year old, it should still be under warranty. Request warranty service.
The noise you are hearing is probably arcing inside the set on the power supply board. Continuing to attempt to turn on the set will only make things worse. Please request warranty service as this is unusual for a TV that new.
Same problem.damn inferior product.I knew I shouldve stick with sony.Ive had mine for 7 months and according to the guy I bought it from hes had it almost a year.No power
call 877-543-8325 this is an LG Executive call center and they will fix this for free. I have a 50" plasma I bought january 2006 which is out of warranty by 5 months. They faxed me and the LG repair shop a 30 day warranty for my tv to cover the repair. Just tell them you heard a pop and in my case the picture is distorted. All they need is the model number and serial number and they should take care of it. No arguing needed.
This unit has a common problem with fans. If one of the cooling fans is intermittent the unit will turn off when the fan fails. A qualified tech with a service remote can get into the service menu and on this unit the is a menu line that shows pwr down failures.
