It's difficult to say but you will need to remove the underside screws and also maybe even the keyboard as it's often attached to the base. The cmos battery could also be behind the screen. Comment by sandrew, posted on Nov 12, 2006 I'm sorry but I dont have any personal experiences with your particular laptop, but the lcd's are generally held in with 1 screw in each corner normally covered by a rubber bung hiding the screws, I would be very carefull not to disconnect any wires behind the screen, if yor not sure take it to a qualified repairer. You will probably have to remove the top panel just below the hinges as they may be held in underneath

HI, ive been having a problem with my Asus A9RP. Been trying to fix it but it is still futile. Everytime i open my laptop, it just stays on the logo. no response from any of the keyboard. i tried to remove...

Bios is not operating properly. Either it is corrupted or you have a bad peripheral causing issues. Disconnect all you can, (hard drive, optical disk, etc) and then see if it still freezes on boot up. If you have 2 memory sticks disconnect one and try again till you check out both chips. If all disconnects do not change anything then my original comment re bad bios stands.

Hi! I have a problem with my ASUS laptop model A8E INTEL C2D T&!)) 1.8 GHZ/2GB DDR2. My battery is already drained. When I plugged it in(NO BTTERY) the screen is totally black, and no blinking process...

Hello hongeong and Welcome to Fixya.

Good job in describing your problem! I actually had that very same experience with a DELL machine and the only resolution is to replace the BIOS battery.

This battery keeps track of the current date and time (as defined by user) and updates it every second. If there is low, or no power in this battery, then the date/time update will stop and this will be "sensed" by the machine during POST (Power On Self Test) - this occurs when you turn on the computer.

I strongly recommend for you to take this machine to the nearest service provider as tearing your system apart to reach the whereabouts of the BIOS battery on the system board is a very difficult feat and requires the necessary tools and training to get it done correctly and avoid further issues.

I hope this helps, and Thank you for using FixYa.

Every time i open my laptop, I had to press F1 to load the windows, and I think I read, cmos battery is low. I have to change the date and time everytime I turn on the laptop. Is it really the CMOS...

Yes the cmos battery is the problem, the laptop must be dis-assembled right down to the motherboard where the battery is located in order to fix this issue.

Howto boot from usb hdd on Asus D1 Degatto. Should I upgrade BIOS? Thanks...

Some laptops cannot boot up from a USB port. If the BIOS does not have the USB as a boot device then a BIOS upgrade may give you this capability. You need to check the ASUS WEB site to see if the BIOS upgrade will support an USB boot up device.

My time & date stops. Have to reset them everytime.

Computers use a button type battery to keep the internal clock running when powered off. It's time to open it up and replace the button battery ;-)

How do I replace the CMO

CMOS battery is that one, which keeps the bios settings and the time. That is now surely is not charging up and it has to be replaced. That is just like a coin. CMOS battery of desktops are easy for desktops, but i am not sure, where it is ( on mainboard though) exactly and the laptop should be opened. please take it to a repair center if you are not willing to open it yourself. its not a huge problem and do not worry.

thanks

Disassembling ASUS Degatto Laptop

The cmos battery is held beneath the plastic shelf directly below the hard-drive. You will either need to force the shell apart enough to get to it; or, do like I did and remove the HD and carefully use an exacto knife to cut a small square out of the HD shelf. Just remember to cit slowly and let the knife do the work, not forcing it through the plastic! Patience grasshopper will bring great rewards! Hope this helps! J
