Loading envelopesYou can load up to 10 envelopes at a time.
Warning: Do not use envelopes that have metal clasps, string ties, or metal folding bars.

1 Load envelopes in the center of the paper support with the stamp location in the upper left corner.
2 Make sure:
• The print side of the envelopes faces you.
• The envelopes are designed for use with inkjet printers.
• The paper guides rest against the edges of the envelopes.

Notes:
• Do not load envelopes with holes, perforations, cutouts, or deep embossing.
• Do not use envelopes that have exposed flap adhesive.
• Envelopes require more drying time. Remove each envelope as it exits, and allow it to dry to avoid ink smudging.

SOURCE: I have a Lexmark C510, how do I print a business envelope?

You can load up to 10 envelopes in the standard tray. Try a sample of any envelopes you are
considering using with the printer before buying large quantities. See Loading envelopes in the
standard tray
for instructions on loading envelopes.
When printing on envelopes:
To achieve the best possible print quality, use only high-quality envelopes that are designed
for use in laser printers.
Set the Paper Source in the Paper Menu based on the source you are using, set the Paper
Type to Envelope, and select the correct envelope size from the operator panel, the printer
driver, or from MarkVision Professional.
For best performance, use envelopes made from 90 g/m2 (24 lb bond) paper. You can use up
to 105 g/m2 (28 lb bond) weight for the 250-sheet standard tray or 105 g/m2 (28 lb bond)
weight for envelopes as long as the cotton content is 25% or less. Envelopes with 100%
cotton content must not exceed 90 g/m2 (24 lb bond) weight.
Use only new, undamaged envelopes.
For best performance and to minimize jams, do not use envelopes that:
Have excessive curl or twist.
Are stuck together or damaged in any way.
Contain windows, holes, perforations, cutouts or embossing.
Use metal clasps, string ties, or metal folding bars.
Have an interlocking design
Have postage stamps attached
Have any exposed adhesive when the flap is in the sealed or closed position
Have nicked edges or bent corners
Have rough, cockle, or laid finishes
Use envelopes that can withstand temperatures of 170°C (338°F) without sealing, excessive
curling, wrinkling, or releasing hazardous emissions. If you have any doubts about the
envelopes you are considering using, check with the envelope supplier.
Adjust the width guide to fit the width of the envelopes.
Load only one size of envelope at a time in the tray. Envelopes may only be loaded in the
standard tray. Load them with the flap down and the flap to the left of the tray.
A combination of high humidity (over 60%) and the high printing temperatures may seal the
envelopes.

Loading envelopes in the standard tray
The recommended stack height is 10 envelopes; however, in normal environments as many as 15
envelopes may be loaded. In high temperature or humidity environments, only seven envelopes
should be loaded.
1 Pull the standard tray completely out.
2 Squeeze the length guide tabs together as shown in step 2 on page 42. Slide the guide to
the correct position for the size of envelope you are loading.
3 Squeeze the width guide tabs as shown in step 3 on page 42. Slide the width guide to the
correct position for the size of envelope you are loading. Notice the size indicators on the
bottom left of the tray.
4 Push the envelope stack aid tabs toward each other. They snap into place.
5 Flex a stack of envelopes back and forth and then straighten the edges on a level surface.
Press down the corners to flatten them.
Fan the envelopes. This prevents the edges of the envelopes from sticking together and helps
them feed properly.
6 Load envelopes flap side down with the stamp area and flap on the right. The end of the envelope with the stamp area enters the printer first.

7 Insert the standard tray.

SOURCE: Lexmark z705 printing blank envelopes soft ware ok

The problem that you are experiencing is caused by the way the text is formatted in most word processing documents. By default envelopes are printed not in black, but a dark gray. This confuses the printer and causes it to use the color cartridge to process gray instead of using the black cartridge.

You can fix this problem with one of two ways:

1. Click on "Start", "Control Panel" and click on "Printers and Faxes." Right click on the "Lexmark Printer" icon and select "Properties." Click on "Printing Preferences." Go to "Quality/Copies" tab and select the option "Print color images in black and white."
2. You can also change the color of you text to a true black in your word processor. This will require you to resort to the word processor's documentation and help files.

Both of these settings will cause your printer to use the black cartridge instead of the color. If either one of these solutions solves your problem, it means your color cartridge needs to be cleaned or replaced. If you feel that the color cartridge should not be out of ink, please follow the steps given below:

Clean Nozzle Procedure:

1. Go to the "Solution Center" and click on the "Maintenance" tab.
2. Select "Clean to fix horizontal strips."
The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps.

If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean Print Nozzles" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below:

“Wicking” Procedure:

1. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge from the printer.
2. Get a damp paper towel.
3. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
4. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
5. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
6. Snap the cartridge back into the printer.
7. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge installed."
8. Repeat the "Clean to fix horizontal strips" procedure listed above.

If this procedure does not help, please let us know so that we can continue with technical support.

Testimonial: "Thank you. I was on the phone with Lexmark a whole hour last night and they couldn't fix it. This corrected the problem immediately! You are a Wiz"

SOURCE: My lexmark e260dn ps3 will not print envelopes correctly

THIS PRINTER CANNOT PRINT ENVLOPES, CHECKS, MONEY-ORDERS OR OTHER CUSTOM SIZES.

I have tried the various drivers, and it just won't print custom size documents, like envelopes, or checks. The From address, typed in the top left corner falls on the top right, the to address typed in the center falls off the page, and so it does not even show up. I just see the word to in the right margin, but the addressee's name and address are missing. I have spent days with tech support and online, without a solution. This printer is a lemon.

My envelopes will not print -

Did you remember to specify envelopes in the printer properties dialog box? Click the button that says Preferences. Then click the Paper/Finishing tab. Under Paper Size, select your envelope size.

The printer will not feed the envelopes correctly without specifying this. The Lexmark printers adjust feed tension based on paper size settings.

Make sure to set the correct paper setting on the printer or the Lexmark software before sending the print job. Adjust the printer's paper guide to the correct envelope dimension.

LEXMARK X1240 WON'T PRINT ENVELOPES

I was so pissed off that so many on the web had this same problem that I spent many hours trying to get it to work. I am sure that this is not how it is designed to work but my envelopes got printed.First I went under File, Print, Properties to Page Set-up for envelope #10. I also ********** print colour images in black and white which someone else had suggested- although it might not be necessary. I selected quick print but normal should probably work too. I then closed out these two windows. Then under tools, I selected Letters and Mailing, then envelopes and labels, typed in the addresses, went under options and changed the feed from automatic to default tray, which automatically changes the feed method to the 4th one out of 6 which wasn't what I wanted but ignore it. Check off face up. Putting the envelope into the printer was bizarre- it has to be inserted very far into the printer until only 2-3 inches of the envelope stick above the horizontal surface of the printer. It must be inserted into the middle of the paper holder, until it is just 2-3 inches sticking up, and then slide it all the way over to the right where the printer indicates the envelope should be- nice and straight against the right margin. Do not use the movable paper holders that they suggest you swing over to the right to hold your envelope- or printing won't occur for some odd reason. Press O.K. on envelopes and labels and then press print. Good luck- it worked for me.

Printing envelopes

you can replace the paper in the main tray with the envelopes. this is the only way unless you have a secondary paper tray or manual paper feed that does not override the main paper feed

Lexmark t640 noise

Lexmark says that this is a feature called Envelope Enhance. Two rollers 'thump' to remove air pockets in the envelopes to prevent creasing and wrinkling. The "feature" can be turned off in the Paper Menu.
