If you can see faint dim images on the screen, then your back light or power inverter has failed. They are not adjustable or repairable and must be replaced. If you can't see anything on the screen, the LCD has failed and must be replaced. Sometimes it's hard to see the dim images so use a flashlight to help determine if there is any image on the lcd.
graphics card software fault. start the pc and get it to bring up the start menu where you see options such as safe mode, usually holding down f8 when you boot. (If all else fails whilst windows is loading hold down your power button to power it off then it should automatically ask you what to do.) select restore to known good configuration. If that does cure it boot to safe mode and do a system roll back (restore) to an earlier time when it did work If that doesn't work, also in safe mode you can try removing the graphics card drivers and forcing it to load windows default drivers. then update from the website. If nothing works, not even safe mode then you'll need to use your windows disks or recovery discs. If you fear losing everything then try downloading and burning a ubuntu live disc on another PC and use that to load your laptop then copy and back up your files to another drive or usb stick using the ubuntu operating system.
Ok ! So try one thing remove HDD from the laptop and then start the laptop. And i am sure that u will see that the screen gone black at certain points. So dude its LCD problem . Go to nearest Laptop repairing center and he can change your LCD. then it working properly
The laptop cannot find the Operating system which is installed on your hard disk drive. Go into the BIOS (setup menu) and see if the hard disk drive is present. If it is then your might need to reload the OS ( operating system software,i.e. Winodws Vista, Windows 7 ). If the BIOS does not detect your hard drive then either your hard drive is defective or the motherboard has a problem.
Outputting to an external display is only possible through Windows. As you stated External Display works with the computer, its sure that the issue is with the LCD. Performing a System Recovery is not going to help. The screen needs a replacement. To confirm this restart the VAIO and press and hold the F2 key and check if the computer boots to BIOS, if it boots to BIOS, then the screen is fine. Based on the information you have provided, I'm sure that the LCD will exhibit the same issue in BIOS and screen will stay blank.
As far as the recovery process is concerned, if you have not changed the preinstalled OS in the computer, you can still access the VAIO Recovery partition from Help and Support. You can also access the Recovery Center following the below link: C:\Progrm Files\Sony\Recovery Center.
To initiate a service process, you can visit the http//:eservice.sony.com or can get in touch with your favorite technician.
Ok try this, at boot up press F8, when the Menu comes up, choose Safe Mode, but this time instead of going to the desktop, choose System Restore, follow instructions, and when the Calender type window comes up, simply choose a time BEFORE, the time it went faulty. This should completely restore you to working again. As long as there are NO other problems.

Hi,
If there's an external image, here's the possibilities:
Bad inverter (25-30.00)
Bad backlight in lcd (new lcd 75.00-100.00)
THe cable has been disconnected from the lcd or the motherboard.
That's really all it can be. Is there any image, no matter how faint, on the lcd? If so, I'd go for a new inverter.
Good luck, hope it helps.
