I have a Kenmore front loading washer. I have had it for a little over 2 years now, and it has worked great. Recently, however, the washer won't drain when it fills with water during a load. I am guessing there is a filter that I can try to clean to help, but I have no idea where it would be. I don't see any regular access panels on the thing, and I don't want to start removing screws everywhere looking, I am not that handy to fix it. Any help?
I have already taken the hose completely off of the back of the washer to make sure it wasn't blocked. When the pump comes on to drain, there is an initial gush of water that lasts for a second or two, and then it reduces to a trickle for about 30 seconds before it stops altogether.

This site was the bomb!! It walked me through the process. There was a sock in the filter trap!!! Now the washer runs like it did when I first bought it, and it only took about 10-15 minutes to take care of it.
THANK YOU!!!!

Is there a drawing of the drain pump anywhere on line. I have emptied trap, tried cleaning impellor (pretty hard to reach in there) and I'm not sure how to go about opening up pump itself. Is there a drawing of the drain pump anywhere on line. It may just be that there is a blockage in the outflow pipe, get a bucket ready to catch any excess water and remove the outflow pipe from the sump to check if there is any blockages.

your door switch is the problem, where the door latch goes into the machine a little switch sites behind this a safety feature and if this is broke the machine will still switch on but will not work it will need replaced they are cheap.adrianxxx
I CAME TO THE SITE WITH THE PROBLEM OF MY WASHER NOT DRAINING. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS FOR MONTHS. TAKING THE HOSES OFF. CLEANING THEM ETC... TODAY I FOUND THE BEST SOLUTION.. THE WOMAN WHO POSTED THAT SHE SAVED HER HUSBAND $300.00 BY TAKING THE BOTTOM OFF WASHER WAS RIGHT.....
BOTTOM OF FRONT LOADER.. THERE ARE THREE SCREWS.. YOU NEED ONE OF THOSE NOT PHILLIPS BUT ROUND LOOKING SCREW DRIVERS(SORRY).. ANYWAY TAKE OFF THREE SCREW.. ONE ON LEFT, RIGHT AND MIDDLE.. THERE IS A WHITE DRAIN HOSE WITH A CAP.. VERY HEAVY PLASTIC FRONT. IT IS HARD TO TWIST OFF CAP BUT KEEP TRYING. ANYWAY IT IS GONNA GET REALLY WET.. SOME WATER CAME OUT AT FIRST BUT I WAS NOT CONVINCED.. SO UNDRNEATH I STARTED TO SQUEEZE THE HOSE AND OUT POPPED 3 SOCKS AND AN ERASER.. THEN ALL THE WATER THAT WAS IN THE WASHER THAT WOULDNT DRAIN.. EVERYTHING WAS SOAKED INCLUDING ME AND MY SON SO BE READY WITH LOTS OF TOWELS. BUT IT WORKED. IM HAPPY TO SAY IM DOING MY FIRST LOAD NOW AND EVERYTHING IS RUNNING BEAUTIFUL...
Leaking pump or drain connexion most likely
you will have to get under to check it out.
Put a several sheet to news paper under the machine and pull it out as it stands to see where the water is coming from front/back/sides
Do a wash and repeat.
But you will need the service of an engineer I guess unless you are good with a wrench.
