Sounds like you have a battery problem and I would think that it has also damaged the charger.

SOURCE: Drill Started Smoking Now won't run

An overload could not cause catastrophic failure. Try contacting the manufacturer via internet and ask for their info on your product. If useful print it and bring back to the tech. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THEIR BULLY TACTICS. The 1st rule of any business is "The customer is ALWAYS right" Bring the tool back to where u bought it and demand a full refund.

SOURCE: chuckless drill stuck tight with drill bit in

if you trap the chuck in a bench vice or alike and then use the drill in reverse in short bursts until it loosens a good spray with wd40 will also aid the situation

Try putting a vise grip on the bit,, and a big vise grip or chanel lock wrench on the key lock..

That should break it free..

Good luck..

I have a fully charged 24 volt Firestorm battery, that when connected to my drill barely turns it? What is wrong?

Do you also have a good battery that runs the drill well to proof the drill is good, and a volt meter (multi meter)?
I have several cordless tool batteries that show the rated voltage on a meter, and register as fully charged when on the charger, that no longer have any current capacity. They will barely turn the drill and die in seconds. This is a different problem than when freshly charged run fine but lose their charge in a few days or so. That is caused by internal short circuits in some or all the cells from "dendrites", a build-up of small amounts of the cell plates as little branches growing on the plates until they reach the other plate, causing a tiny short circuit. Dendrites can sometimes can be burned off, the way I do it can be extremely dangerous and I do not recommend it. I do it by putting 4 battery chargers in series, giving me an open circuit voltage of 59 volts. I for a no more than 4 seconds connect them to the battery - to - and + to +, with a current in excess of 50 amps. The battery gets hot and could explode, so I do it by reaching around a 1/2" thick poly-carbonate shield. Lacking a shield, i use a power strip to plug the chargers in Have the power strip unplugged from the outlet or extension cord, connect the charger clips to the battery, and from a distance, plug in the power strip just for 2-3 seconds. The battery may be quite hot. I then check the battery voltage, it is usually a bit higher than the voltage rating. I put the battery in the drill and if it makes a few turns, i run it till the drill stops, then charge the battery normally. I use 2 small 12 v chargers that have a 50 amp jump-start setting and two that have a 10 amp rating.
The proper repair is to replace or rebuild them.

Black & Decker Cordless Drill will not charge battery

Either the charging adapter is faulty or the battery is worn out.

If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

My JCB 18V cordless drill is not working when you press the trigger. The battery is fully charged any ideas please.

It's probably the switch; mine judders and works kind of. Slight burning smell coming from it, dismantled it to discover that the switch has started to burn out, so far no luck finding a replacement.........

JCB are totally useless, no help from their support phone number!

The drill has stopped charging up. No obvious

It may be the charger, but most likely the battery can no longer hold a charge. This may happen if the battery drops below its holding charge. Example, left discharge for a couple months. There is little that can go wrong with a charger unless you start smelling burnt plastic from it.

I think the burning is from vents at back of unit,

Here's what you're looking at for possible parts:
Motor and Pinion PN: 396505-22SV $40
Brush and Holder PN: 603754-01 $6 (ea)
VSR Switch PN: 152274-22 $55
Depending on where you buy, plus shipping. Any or all of the above parts could have caused the drill to get hot enough to make a burning smell. You'll have to take it apart to see what's wrong then assess the repair cost vs. buying new.

Battery charger burn out.

If you have one of those little testers that has red and black wires with prongs on you can test by touching the metal areas on your battery. The red is positive and black the ground.

Re: Burned trigger switch: call the number on the drill (800.590.3723) and tell them what happened. They will offer to send you a new switch or have you send the drill in for replacement of the switch--although the person I talked with said they would probably just replace the whole drill.
