Only if you lost the router login password. www.routerlogin.com gets you there, admin is username and password is password by default.

How can i find out my old password and reset it so i can add another lap top

The network security key (password) is the router's wireless encryption key.
To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured ie SSID WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Forgot network security key trying to add new laptop to network. can you help with a quick fix

try downloading wireless key viewer on a computer that has the key already in and working. It my be a long key as it is converted into a different format so you may need to copy into word accross a network or on a pen drive and then paste from it into the laptop you have forgotten the key for.

My pc has locked me out of the internet and i unfortunately didnt save the WEP key, the router is a NetgearWGT624 v3

The WEP encryption key is stored in the wireless setting in the Netgear wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Netgear router and open IE browser and enter the Netgear configuration IP address (http://192.168.0.1) default login = admin default PW = password (type in the login password if you had changed it).
In the wireless encryption setting note down the encryption key. Use this key to configure the wireless card in the computer.

If you forgotten the PW then you can reset the router back to the factory configuration by using a sharp point and pressing the reset button at the back of the router until the LEDs flash, then release the Reset button.
Then login as previously stated. You can then create a new encryption key. I suggest you use WPA2 or WPA encryption key because it is much stronger than WEP.
I also suggest :-
Change the default password
Change the default SSID
For additional wireless security - enable MAC address filtering (this allows only listed MAC addresses of wireless cards to connect to this router - add the MAC address of your wireless card to the MAC address table in the wireless router).
Don't forget to configure the wireless card in the computer with the router's SSID and encryption key.

I lost my wpa key number and have now reset the router - help!

You need to connect your computer hardwired to the router and reconfigure it. On your wireless computer, you need to delete all the preferred networks and add a new wireless profile.

Bright house modem and desktop computer, trying to hook up wireless net gear router for 2nd desktop to get internet? How do I configure the cables?

Connect the lan cable from the dsl modem into the first port on your netgear router ..
make sure your dsl modem is on PPPoE mode so that it autoconnects..
Now just connect to your wireless router via your pc interface..
*Do add a network key to your wireless network to avoid unwanted access

Wireless router connection problems

Assuming "cannot connect to linksys router directly" means you cannot connect to a Wireless Lan managed by Linksys router,
1) try to connect new computer to LinkSys Router using a Lan cable, add new PC to your network.
2) recover protocol (WEP or WPA) and Key of WLAN (Passphrase or Key: TKIP or AES) either from other PC on same network either from your Router.
3) If you missed actual key you must connect to router and reset it to a new key to be eventually used for every connected device.
Call for detail on this possibility

How to find the router ip address

Greetings...

You need to have a computer with a wired connection to the router to make this change... this is a Toshiba PCX5000?

open a browser and type in 192.168.100.1

it will ask for a password or make you setup a password, make sure you write password down... if it asks for a password and you do not know it, you will have to push the reset button and reset the router to factory specs and then add a password...

after accessing the router... in the left hand side bar click on wireless...

goto the wireless settings...

Wireless Net Name entry box - Also called the ESSID, the Wireless Net Name is the unique name
shared by all devices on the wireless network. All wireless devices on the network MUST use the
same Wireless Net Name to communicate with each other and the access point. The name can be
up to 32 characters long. By default, the PCX5000 uses “PCX5000” as the Wireless Net Name.

SAVE the settings and exit the router...

Manual, drivers and other information on the router are here

Have a great day...

Ed
