I got an lg shine from a friend that is branded at&t, i called and unlocked it so i could use it with my tmobile service. I can make/receive calls and text, but i cannot send/receive pictures or video or go online with it at all. What settings do i need to change to make it work?
Go to the my.t-mobile.com website and log in
up at the top-right of the screen (next to support) type in 'Device Configuration' in the 'Ask T-Mobile' box
under 'What is... blah blah blah... configurator?' click on the link to use it
select the make and model and get the settings for the t-zones service and the MMS service (follow the simple on-screen instructions) and all done
There are SMS and MMS settings that must be entered into a GSM cell phone that are dependent to the GSM carrier. AT&T's settings are pre-programmed into an AT&T branded phone, and T-Mobile's settings are preset in a T-mobile phone. These settings are not removed or changed when you unlocked the phone. What is changed is the ability to use the phone on any GSM network in the world, with a proper SIM. So your solution is to call T-Mobile customer care to help you setup the Message Center information. You could also try this web site, but I am unable to verify if the information works.
