Network security key
Some later model wireless routers have the Password(ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router andthis information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born inJanuary 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop,configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wirelesssettings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptopscan communicate with your wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

I dont know how to create a wep key i dont know if you use letters or numbers

WiFi Security Best Practices

Use WPA/WPA2 encryption. Avoid using Open or WEP-encrypted WiFi. Use WiFi Protected Access (WPA) or WPA2 with 802.1x authentication if possible. If you use a Pre-Shared Key (PSK) authentication, use a strong passphrase (aka WPA shared key) that is at least eight characters long and is a combination of alphanumeric and special characters.

Cannot connect my wii to my wireless internet

i dont know if you need a guide on how to set it up or a trouble shooting guide. here is a trouble shooting guide and if you dont know what to do let me know and i will post a step by step guide on how to setup the wii on the internet. This error code usually indicates a problem relating to wireless security. Please try the following troubleshooting: Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router? Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance) Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key. If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters). If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot. If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types: WPA - PSK (TKIP) WPA - PSK (AES) WPA2 - PSK (AES)
If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering: From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model). If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings). If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.

Check Nintendo's router info for special notes, if available, for your router. Click here to go to our Wireless Router lookup page. Use the drop-down box to select, if available, your router manufacturer. Click on your router's model number, if available. Read any "special notes" at the top of the router's page. Many issues can be solved by changing settings described in the "special notes."

Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings: On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run." Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.

Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response. if you require further assistance please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. -Midwest-tek

Need wpa key to set up internet with my ps3 but dont know wat that is?

WPA is a Wireless Internet Authentication technology. It is setup through your home wireless router. If you have home wireless internet, you should know your WPA or WEP key. However, you dont have Wireless, you might just want to run a network cable from your router to the Playstation.

I dont know how to get internet on my ds lite

Nintendo? You have to have a WEP key...and if your wireless encryption is not set up with a WEP key, if it has a WPA or a WPA-2 key, it won't work. You have to change the encryption on your wireless (either router or modem, whichever you are using) ...open a browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, put in your password, and change the encryption type to WEP...then put the settings in the DS.
