Ear piece does not work. Station top light does not come on

Many devices will automatically switch off the large speaker when ear phones are plugged into them. Also there may be a switch or button or prompt on your radio to switch between regular speaker and ear phone jack. Look for that first.
Try connecting and disconnection ear phones while listening to a station and see if the problem is intermittent. If is works sometimes but not every time then it is most likely an internal connection.
You will have to access the inside of the radio to investigate further. Connect a working external music or sound source with speaker wire to the terminals inside the radio that connect to the radio's speaker. If the radio's speaker works with the external sound source then you know it is a bad connection inside your radio. If the radio's speaker does not work with the external sound source then it is most likely a faulty radio speaker. Look closely for a broken solder point or broken/disconnected wire.

If you turn on your radio and it does not come on as you say, there are different sides to the problem.
1. If when you turn it on, it does not come on, and probably tells you that 'enhancement is not supported', then the problem is from the enhancement (ear piece). Get another enhancement and try again. If you have done that and it still was not helpful, or the problem was not even from the enhancement, then proceed.
2. If when you turn it on, it shows a station or frequency number on the screen, but you dont hear anything, then the ear phone of your enhancement is faulty. To confirm that the problem is from the ear phone, select

options> loudspeaker.

If you hear the sound, it confirms that the ear phone is bad.
You can then use your old enhancement on loudspeaker or get another enhancement.

The ear buds are not only the headphones but are also the antenna for the radio.
This one issue that has to be addressed by the dock manufacturer. You will have to tamper around with the Nano to modify it to work with out a ear buds by letting a wire permanently hang out from the device - which I think would look ugly !!!

You can actually plug a stereo headset into a mono jack and it will usually play the audio thru the left ear piece.

I had this problem for the pat two days. Believe it or not I took my Ipod touch of the dock. Shut the power off to the Ipod to reset it. Also the power to the docking station. turned everything back on. Put the Ipod back into the docking station and heard the beep.. and hit play and it was working again. Not sure but shutting Ipod off does act like a reset.

Hold the up volume and the talk button (the one on the side of the ear piece) down until the status light flashes red then blue.  This places the headsead into pairing mode.

u have to check ur ear piece. that persons have not even place it at write or have damaged that one. so check if any condition

Check settings and look for maximum volume, this might have been changed.
otherwise your plug in your ipod is broken or both your headphones and docking station are broken.

On the top of the ear piece, there are two buttons, one is the volume up and down, the other is on/off. Press and hold until you see a blue light on the piece that is the mic.
