Set is either not getting out of standby or is in shutdown because of a problem inside.
First place to look is the power supply board--follow the power cord inside as it goes right there first.
A quick look will tell you if for example you see puffed up caps what your problem is.
These caps are puffed up and that means bad--if this a fairly inexpensive fix is possible.

It sounds like it's the inverter panel which lites the lcd back light.
If it's under warranty, try to replace it, or take it in for svc.

no kidding? what is the problem so prevelant in this unit? obvious design flaw.

Start by counting the red blinks. This will hopefully tell you what the problem is. Then check back with the number of blinks.

The flashing light indicates a short circuit inside the power supply circuitry. This type of repair is not a DIY without a multimeter, desoldering iron and hand soldering skills. I repair these power supplies, if you need further info write to [email protected]
