I have a GE JES831WB 001 microwave that I'd love to fix. The light, clock & timer are working, but that's all - no fan nor heating. Any suggestions?

The microwave was working fine. I stopped it to check an item I was heating up & when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't restart. The light, clock & timer are working, but that's all - no fan nor heating. Any suggestions?

The door switches are often a problem, one or two are probably defective which would cause the symptoms that you are describing.

SOURCE: Microwave works intermittently

This is most commonly due to a failing door switch or door switch mount. But it may also be a bad connection or bad relay on the control board, which we repair nationwide for $39.95. Also, it could be a loose connection at the magnetron. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams for similar models here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 You can order parts at http://www.wehaveparts.com

Sounds like the problem is in the high voltage. Most common would be magnatron, capacitor and diode. For safety reasons this should be checked by a professional. Look in your owners manual because some high voltage parts have a longer warranty than 1 yr.

It's probably the high voltage rectifier diode or magnetron.

The magnetron will have a guarantee lasting about 5-9 years, so if it might be covered, contact GE at http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/contact/

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
Also, there should be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel.

Essentially you remove the vent grille held on by screws and/or clips then you'll see a screw at the top of the control panel.

Then the control panel should either lift up and out or forward and down.

The fuse is normally near the door switches, on the floor behind the controls, or on a metal plate near the transformer or fan.

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. It's very helpful when troubleshooting.

The actual model number is like JVM1460. XL1400 is just a "line" and won't help in finding parts.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GE Model # JVM7195SFSS microwave.

Check the internal ceramic fuse on the circuit board. Sometimes one section will work while another won't. I'm not sure if this model has a rear mounted thermal fuse, but the models with the inline thermal fuse will cause a similar issue.

Microwave light and clock work but no heat

Could be one of the three door switches. If the fan turns on when cooking and no heat then the magnetron is bad. Most problems are the switches

My GE Profile Jvm1870sk03 microwave built oven does not work. There is power, the clock, timer works. If I press the button to heat the clock shows it's going on but there is no heating process go

Most likely door switches. Companies these days use switches with small 3/16 terminals and they tend to get hot and make the switch go bad. When I replace them I put in a 20 amp rated switch with 1/4 inch terminals, and a short section of better wire to the switch. If you make better connections it stops the wires from getting hot and the switch will last a long time.

GE 1800 XL not heating, no power, except fan works and clock also

Hello :

It could be bad door switch or loose door switch mount . There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

or it could be problem with the control panel .

good luck .
