If you are trying to get rid of all the speakers & just hooking up the sound to the tv speakers, what you need to look for on the back of the dvd system is you need to find an audio out. I know the is one or two audio input, but I do not think there are any audio outputs. I don'e think you can get sound out of this system without your speakers hooked up. sorry.

DAV-DZ260 + KDL-32V4000 - no audio from TV to DAV via HDMI

Check DAV amp menu and select DTS surround or any other digital sound option.

Protect flashing on screen

That is the system telling you it jhas shut down the amplifier circuit to protect itself from damage.
Check the speaker wires both at the back of the unit and at each of the speakers to see if any of them have come out or are touching anything they shouldn't be.

You may also have a blown speaker sending a short back down the line. So if you find no wires out of place, then disconnect each speaker and turn the unit off and on as you go until the message is not showing and sound is restored.

Sony DAV-SA30 Sounds works for CD's but not for DVD's

Thats a strange problem.maybe your DVD lens wants to be cleaned try doing that.or try another DVD. if that do not work, then i can say that your player is not compatible with the program that your disc is burned with.
