Yes, in my experiences, it is possible to restore deleted data back from external hard drive. Honestly, after any deleting or formatting process, the stuffs stored on this drive are not really gone permanently. Unless the new stuffs have rewritten all your previous drive information, you often can easily take some recoverable data back with external hard drive data recovery software.
So, from now on, stop adding anything to this drive and search for a proper data recovery program over the internet.
Note: In the future, always making drive data backups well can help you avoid such data loss issues.

Files Wiped, Need Help Recovering Them

Download Recuva, and run the deep scan on the drive, it should be able to detect the deleted files, make sure to save them to a different drive than the one you are recovering from.

I have an Iomega MDHD500-N external hardrive. I erased a folder of photos accidentaly. How can I recover the photos?

Did you look in your recycle bin. If you are lucky you may be able to restore them from there. Other than that, that is why they also say to do a backup every once in a while. Please rate my answer to I am rewarded points for it.

My Iomega 1tb drive now only shows invalid shortcuts instead of the directories to my 800 gb of data please help!

first, recover your files with data recovery program like asoftech data recovery program.
http://www.geardownload.com/system/asoftech-data-recovery.html

I've had to use it many times in the past but in this case you need to plug that drive into another system as an external drive or slave drive and run the software from there. It will rebuild the drive and hopefully recover the files.

After you get back your files, you can then format the drive.

MY BUFFALO EXTERNAL HARD DISK HD PXTU2 IS SHOWING 297 GB UNALLOCATED. I THINK ITS PARTITION IS CORUPPTED

Hi guy,
You can try a partition recovery software to recover your corruptted partition.I have succeed to recover deleted partition with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover deleted, formatted, corruptted partition after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data.
Anyway, you can download a trial version and scan your hard drive for free to check out whether your partition can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com/index.htm
