If your sound doesn't work you need to go to you webcam and switch the brand by open your webcam and click settings click recording and switch it. that's if when you record you cant here yourself. If you cant open your webcam go to start and start typing webcam and it will pop up! Hope it helped!!!!
i you want use it for taking picture, u need webcam software come with your laptop like cyberlink webcam to make it functioning, but if u want to use it for cam chat, you just need ym or skype to make it functioning but make sure you webcam driver is installed befor you can use your webcam.

The webcam light not switching on could me one of two things:
A) You don't have it plugged in, or it is plugged in but not receiving power.
SOLUTION: Try a different USB port, then go to the manufacturer's website and update the drivers.
B) The webcam is working fine, but it's not transmitting.
Some webcam's will only light up when they are transmitting video or capturing video. If this is the case, just open up Yahoo or MSN, start a video conversation with someone and see if it lights up.
