Hi,

Some of the emachines coming with Recovery image. You need to press F11 key on starting to check whether the image is available or not. If it is there proceed with restore.

Otherwise you need a recovery CD to do this. If you don't have any CD then you could purchase the recovery disk for your emachines from the link below by entering the serial number on your computer:

SOURCE: computer displays black screen with blinking cursor

Its seems its not booting correctly. Just Insert Windows CD and fix the windows. Another solution is to press (I think) F1 or F11 or F12 (depending on the model) when booting the machine. It will take you to recovery mode. Use it to restore the boot section ONLY.

SOURCE: black screen, blinking cursor in top left hand corner

Could be a number of issues, incl unseated processor or a faulty hard drive. First off I would remove mains & battery, remove covers from underneath and reseat any memory or processors you can find - by reseat I mean just take out and put back.If this fails, I would look to price up a new hard drive before condemning the machine.

SOURCE: won't boot

I had this too. It kept happening after I would install updates. I think the problem turned out to being that my harddrive (only 4GB) had run out of space.

The way I ended up fixing it was to turn the power off by holding down the button, turn it back on and hold the F9 key. This allowed me to "restore factory defaults" and it booted up again. I lost all the changes I had made, so if you had settings saved, this may not be your best option.

If it is a harddrive space issues, I would recommend getting to the console (CNTRL+ALT+T) and then typing "sudo synaptic" to get to the package manager. You can then remove packages that you no longer need or want to use (like the kids games, possibly Skype). This stuff is a little advanced, so if you're not sure of what you're doing, you may end up changing something you didn't mean to and needing to start back over again by restoring defaults.

Are you getting the Acer logo on start up? If so you might have a software issue on the hard drive, or the hard drive itself is defective. I suggest using your recovery disc to re-install windows and drivers providing you have them.

Hi, I do apologize for the inconvenience you have been facing. The reason why the laptop does not reboot to Windows even after reinstalling Windows is because the issue is with the hard drive not being recognized the reason for which you get a blinking line on the screen after the Acer logo .In this case I would suggest that if the laptop is under warranty please contact the Acer Technical support and have an order placed for repair.
Thank you for your time and best wishes for your effort.

Acer ZG5 lsass.exe

Use another computer to copy the files from the CD over to a USB flash drive, if you have got one. Then start up you Acer and go into the BIOS settings (press F1,F2 or DEL a few times before the windows logo appears) Then go to boot device priority or something similar, and choose the priority to boot from a USB HDD higher than your Hard drive. Just to be sure, put it as number one. Save the settings and exit, and restart your computer with the USB flash drive with the files inside in your computer.
