nyindianmike, got it fixed after I posted, but it sounds as though I did it the hard way...I unplugged the video jack and plugged it into the component video jack..got my picture but it was doing the vertical/horizontal thingy. made it tough to see the set-up menu. Anyway, got to the "system" sub-menu and hit reset. Presto. thanks again

The tv is in a mode where a woman is describing what is happening on the tv. Like if a blind person is watching and we can't figure out how to turn it off.

Hello, Suxy -

If you have the owner's manual for your TV, there is probably information about the SETTINGS and DESCRIPTIVE AUDIO or DESCRIPTIVE VIDEO. If you have the manual, find that section and follow the directions for turning it off.

Otherwise . . .

With the remote control for your TV power the TV on.

Then, press MENU.

The SETTINGS options for the TV should then display.

One of the SETTINGS options will probably be AUDIO or, maybe ACCESSIBILITY.

Since I don't know the make and model of your TV, I am unable to be precise in my directions here.

Eventually, you will need to find the TV setting which relates to audio settings. You will want to turn the Descriptive Audio / Descriptive Video setting off.

Best wishes.

I have a (cyberhome ch-dvd 300) dvd player and changed setup menu now lost video cant see to change back is there a reset code or something

I wish I could find the website that gave all the repair hints for this DVD player, but I downloaded the info, and can no longer find the site. Here is what it says with regard to your symptoms. I hope this helps. I have done all the mods the site suggested, but continue to have difficulty with the remote, tray opening, etc. I have 2 machines and used to love them, but frustration has taken it's toll. Recovering from a condition with no TV picture
Accidentally switching to PAL and getting a rolling black & white picture happens all the time to baffle users, especially on models with a System or P/N key on the remote. To get back your color and sound just switch to the proper system in the menu or put in a movie of the correct type and it can switch automatically or try the procedure below for resetting to the defaults.
Sometimes owners will accidentally switch to Progressive Scan in the menu then get no picture at all. You can fix the no picture condition on the CH-300 by resetting the defaults to interlaced as mentioned in the users manual:

"To reset the VIDEO OUTPUT, turn Off the player, turn back On, open the disc tray and press and hold the Stop button on the player for 10 seconds to reset the scan mode."

The Reset procedure doesn't seem to work on all versions but you can sometimes get a usable B&W picture allowing you to get to the menu and change the settings by connecting the composite video input of your display to the Red Pr/Cr or Green Y component output jacks on the rear of the cabinet.
You can also go into the Menu and set it blind with the following key presses on the Remote:
1. With the unit Stopped, press Setup.
2. Press Enter.
3. Press the Down Arrow 3 times.
4. Press the Right Arrow Once.
5. Press Enter.
On 300Z & 300ZS models if the video is set to Progressive Scan and you can't get a viewable picture on the Red or Green jacks try going into the Menu blind and changing it back with the following key presses on the Remote:
1. With the unit stopped, press Setup on the remote.
2. Press the Right Arrow Once.
3. Press Enter.
4. Press the Down Arrow 2 times.
5. Press Enter.
6. Press the Up Arrow 2 Times.
7. Press Enter. This should switch it back to Interlaced scan with S-Video and Composite output.
To change the Parental Control setting on the CH-300 use the factory password of 3351. For the CH-400 use 1379.

Convergence on my menu is no longer there

You need the service manual, I don`t know about these particular set, but on Toshiba`s, you had to press the menu button on the set and while holding that in, I think you pressed the red button on the remote. This got you into service mode. If the convergence went out while you were watching it, I don`t think adjustments will cure your fault, it sounds like the Driver chip may have failed which drives the convergence coils on the tube necks. Is it just one/two of the colours?? Is it out in the centre?? Is it out around the edges?? If you do intend adjust anything, make sure you write EVERY setting down first including EVERY mode, It is a VERY time consuming job and even then you`ll NEVER get it perfect. You have to repeat the whole setup in EVERY mode, eg: Widescreen, 4:3, Stretch, 16:9 etc. You`ll also need a signal generator to give you a steady picture while performing any adjustments and when you alter the brightness and contrast, this will affect the convergence also. DO NOT alter the binary settings of the set, these tell the micro what the set is fitted with, eg: Nicam, Freeview, NTSC, PAL etc, etc. If I remember correctly, there are about 300 settings which have to be performed in sequence and when you alter one setting in one mode, this can affect another setting in another mode. It`s a real nightmare, believe me. The only trouble is, if you do start to alter the settings and you find that there is a faulty component, You`ve got to try to get it back to the settings that they were before you started your tweeking. If you do alter the binary code settings of the set, then there`s a very good chance that the set won`t come back on. It took me three days to sort one set out once and even then the customer complained about the convergence. Ian

Lost everything visual, just audio.

Just enter the appropriate Menu-Setting (without a picture you´ve to do this "blind") - Press "Setup" - 1x key down (=video menu) - 1x key right (switch to sub menus) - 2x key down(=video format) - press select - key up (=interlaced) and press select again - finished!

T.V. won't allow me to adjust color and sound...

Chepe_77,

You are absolutely correct. The reason why you cannot change your audio and video settings are due to the fact that you are in "Dynamic Fixed". Which is one of your many av modes. Av modes are different preset color settings and dynamic fixed is the only one that will lock your settings. Best Buy set it that way so that people could not just come by and alter the settings on the unit. AV modes are on all sharp lcd products and even though you have the wrong remote you should have an av mode button on the remote that came with it. Try pressing the av mode button and see what happens. When you press the av mode button, you will see your av modes change at the bottom of the screen. However, the issue still remains that you have the wrong remote. So there is a chance that you may press the av mode button on the remote that you have, but it still will may not work ONLY because you have the wrong remote. If the remote you have does not work, I GUARANTEE that pressing the av mode button on the proper remote will take care of that. If you dont want to purchase the remote from sharp, www.partstore.com is a good place. Good luck to you
