Flashing (ghosting) on screen when playing DVD's or VCR tapes

When I play DVD's or Video tapes on my Philips combined player I get periodic ghost images flashing up on the screen of my Digimate TV. These images appear to cover about half the screen  from the bottom of the screen and towards the right of the screen.

I've had a similar problem, It was not the TV or the DVD player but the SCART junction box (a separate unit that automatically sent the live input to the output SCART socket, to fix I just uses a spare empty input socket.

if you don't have one of these units try with a different SCART socket or AV input also try replacing the leads between the player and TV.

Lost manual, can't get VCR to play

There are several Philips and Magnavox DVD/VCR combos that have sepearate video connectors for the DVD and VCR side. Double-check the yellow composite cable that is plugged into the back of your Magnavox - it should be plugged into an area that says either "DVD/VCR" or "VCR". If you are currently using red, green, and blue video cables, you will need to add a second video cable - a yellow composite would be easiest. The reason for this change is that red/green/blue cables will only operate the DVD side on most Philips/Magnavox players - that is just the way they decided to design them. If you happen to find a model number listed on the back of your combo unit, and have the model number of your television, I can take a second look at it, and tell you exactly which connections to make. Good luck!

No picture when playing a VHS tape

Nothing has worked! Talked with a tech on the phone line and she said unit is bad. Everyone seems to have problems with this type of unit period so I am returning it and giving up. Even the responses from others have not proved effective. Lousy product!
