I turned tv off with remote, now it will not turn back on. i have tried remote and button on front of tv.

Try replacing your Remote of your TV.

Try unplugging the tv and taking batteries out of remote for a few seconds

TV won't turn on • Press the TV button. Make sure the TV is plugged in.• Check the wall receptacle (or extension cord) to make sure it is "live" by plugging in something else.• Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press the POWER button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, check the remote control solutions on page 26.• The front panel controls may be locked (disabled). Use the remote control to unlock the front panel controls by selecting the Lock Fr. Panel in the PARENTAL CONTROL menu and press OK (box won't have check mark).Buttons don't work

turn on again. If this happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low.
• Unplug TV. Wait five minutes. Plug it in again.

Try a reset:

1. Turn on the television.
2. On the TV remote control, press and hold either the RESET or UP ARROW button.
3. While holding the RESET or UP ARROW button, press and release the POWER button on the front of the TV. NOTE: The TV will turn off and then back on.
   
4. Release the RESET or UP ARROW button.

If that doesnt solve it, you will need a repair.

Step 2
Press and hold the "up arrow" button on the remote control. The up arrow button is located in the middle of the remote, to the left of the "Input" button and below the "Picture" button.

Step 3
Press the power button on the TV while still holding down the up arrow button. The TV will turn off and then turn itself back on.

Step 4
Release the up arrow button. Once the TV turns itself back on, it will restore your TV to its factory settings.

You're going to need the remote to fix this one. If you have any other GE or RCA tv's you can try it. Most of the remotes that are produced within a few years of your television will probably work. When you get one the instructions are: Front Panel Lock This feature allows you to lock the buttons on the front of the TV. Even when the front panel lock feature is on, the TV operates with the remote control. To lock the buttons on the front of the TV: 1. Make sure the TV is on. 2. Press and hold the POWER button on the remote for approximately 5 seconds. To turn off the front panel lock: 1. Make sure the TV is off. 2. Press and hold the POWER button on the remote for approximately 5 seconds

Try to reinitialize the set , with the remote press menu 1 2 3 enter.

Setting the Sleep Timer The sleep timer allows your LCD TV to automatically turn OFF after a given amount of time. You can set the sleep timer using your remote control or through the onscreen display (OSD).
TO SET THE SLEEP TIMER USING THE REMOTE CONTROL
1. Press the SLEEP button on the remote control. The sleep timer appears at
the top of your screen.
2. Press the SLEEP button one or more times to select the time you want.
3. Press the EXIT button to hide the sleep timer display. Your sleep timer is now running in the background. The sleep timer will be hidden after 10 seconds.
Turning On the LCD TV.
1. Press the MAIN POWER switch in the back of the unit (see Back Connectors for location). The Status LED on the front turns orange
and your LCD TV is ready to turn on.
2. Press the POWER button on the front of your LCD TV or on your
remote control. The Status LED on the front turns green.

First of all, forget about the remote and see if the TV functions normally using the buttons on the front of the set itself. If the TV will not power on with the power button on the set itself, then something is wrong inside the TV. If the set works fine from the front buttons but no longer responds to that remote, then the remote has either gone bad or was accidently set to a different brand. In this case, look for the original book that came with the remote (or TV if it is the original remote) and follow the instructions for setting the remote back to Zenith.
