Frigidaire FMV156D 950 Watts Microwave

Everything work (i.e., the fan, lights), but the microwave. The light will come on when you press start, but it still does not heat the food...Timer counts down and that's it...I have only had this microwave for about a year now

    We also have the EXACT same problem. Microwave works minus heating. Timer countdown works but no heating.

    Same problem. Is it possibly the door switch? That may be wishful thinking. The switch is much cheaper to replace. Is it more cost effective to buy the part ourselves and replace it or have it repaired by a professional? I believe the part is under warranty.

    Has anyone tried checking/replacing the magnetron. If so.....did it work.....and what is the magnetron and where is it located. Not a good sign that so many people are having problems with the same thing and our microwaves are only about a year or so old!

Frigidaire microwave not working
Is the door closing properly? Do you hear it "click" when it closes. A lot of times the problem is the door switch. It is located inside the microwave. They are made of plastic and they break. If the switch is broken, the magnetron(microwaves) will not start.

So you're saying you can set the cooking time but when you press Start it won't start?

If this is the case, you probably have a bad door swithc or door switch mount.

Sounds like the problem is in the high voltage. Most common would be magnatron, capacitor and diode. For safety reasons this should be checked by a professional. Look in your owners manual because some high voltage parts have a longer warranty than 1 yr.
