Voyage 200 pixel line problem

Hi, My calculator stop displaying 2 horizontal pixel lines. I had opened the calculator to check if the problem was in the flex and it's fine. Then i start changing the contrast to maximum & minimum. I had notice when i change to maximum contrast the pixels in the lines appear. Does anyone know what could it be? Best Regards

I revived my voyage 200 after 10 years sitting in a drawer. The blank lines made me put it away then. I resolved the problem and is as simple as simple as setting the contrast of the screen to all black (diamond green button and +button) at night and leaving it till next day. All vertical a d horizontal lines are gone. Hope my comment is useful. Bye.

I did a similar thing as Carlos Seyde (comment from sep 2020) and the trick solved the problem with several vertical lines on my Voyage 200 from 2003 ????

Exercising the LCD display and its driver electronics very often fixes *blank* pixel lines. Turn up the contrast until it's pure black, then turn the V200 on and off rapidly about 50 times. After that, leave it on for about 10 minutes with the display pure black without letting it turn itself off from lack of use. Then turn it off and give it a rest for about ten minutes and then turn it back on again. If the blank lines are still there, wash, rinse and repeat. I've had to do this anywhere from once to three times to get the blank pixel lines working again on a few Voyage 200's.

SOURCE: Random characters lines and pixels

I've had a similar problem in the past with my TI-86. It still happens sometimes when I don't use it for a while. To fix it, all I did was set the screen to its darkest setting and left it on for 10 minutes (keep it from turning itself off, by pushing buttons every few minutes.) It works great, and the calculator is fine unless you leave it unused for a month or so. A similar solution may work for you.

SOURCE: Display Screen Voyage 200

The Solution, which suggests to replace the capacitator seems to be the only permanent.

Turning the device on and of (with "2nd" + "on") rapidly for a few times (about 10-15 for me) made the lines disappear for while, too.

SOURCE: Horizontal lines obstructing the second half of the ti 83 calculator screen, anyone know repair tips?

I had the same prob with vertical lines on the screen, and getting messed up when there was lots of numbers on the screen.

Solution: Change your batteries. Put some freshies in then adjust your contrast until you see the little black box. If you still have a problem with the lines, darken the screen until it's black (2nd up repeatedly) and let it sit for a couple minutes. Lighten your screen back to normal (2nd down) and turn off then turn her back on.

SOURCE: Blank vertical lines are appearing on the screen.

Hi, and sorry for my english !
Maybe the LCD driver voltage is wrong or noisy. I had the same problem: some vertical lines (not constant), pulsing contrast after powerup, pixel crosstalk, sometimes no screen

Solution: Try to replace the LCD power negative voltage buffer capacitor.
In my hardware version it is in the middle of the two T6B07 column driver IC (U3&U4) on the right side. Colored black, electrolytic type and the Value is : 10uF/25V. Chage it to around the same type.
There is enought space, so you can use a small sized non smd type capacitor. Be care of the polarity.

I hope it will help... ;)

Hi i had reseted my voyage 200. Must i do anything before install new programs?

well,

Technically you can just install the new programs using your ti-connect device but it would be advised to search ti.com/calc for a new operating system, commonly termed OS. It is just a suggestion that will make the calculator run much smoother.

Can I see the difference

Visually, there is very little difference to the eye of the average consumer between 720p and 1080. However, 720p can deliver a slightly smoother-looking image, due to the fact that lines and pixels are displayed in a consecutive pattern, rather than in an alternate pattern.your tv is display format is 720p and blu ray is 1080p. what happen is it will be scaled into 720p. old tv set format is 480p 720p represents 1,280 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 720 pixels down the screen vertically. This arrangement yields 720 horizontal lines on the screen, which are, in turn, displayed progressively, or each line displayed following another. 1080p, on the other hand, represents 1,080 horizontal lines displayed sequentially. This means all lines are displayed during the same pass. 1080p is the highest quality HD display format. 480p represents 720 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 480 pixels down the screen vertically. This arrangement yields 480 horizontal lines on the screen, which are, in turn, displayed progressively, or each line displayed following another.

Voyage 200 won't turn on

I've fixed my Voyage 200!! I fixed it using the 3rd solution listed below. I've placed them all in there in case the one I used din't work. The funny thing is the solutions listed weren't even for the Voyage 200. I mistakenly tried the wrong one, but it worked!! I've also posted some soultions listed for the Voyage 200 just incase the others don't work and the website I found these solutions can be found here. Good Luck!!

Website:
http://epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/csksxvm.jsp?nSetId=85103&nUsePub=NO&jttst0=6_23871,23871,-1,0,&jtfm0=&etfm1=&jfn=ZG1C0B48595DC76138EFAD7BAC9C1E63B698A69C9FCFEA6C84DEE9934631AC138649F2CD10EBEEF5C5E390C0B8C5F215C2F3

List of solutions that worked for me:

  1. Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
  2. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the [2nd] key followed by pressing and releasing the up arrow; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the down arrow.
  3. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the CLEAR key. While holding CLEAR, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared". Release the CLEAR key and then press it one more time to remove the message. (worked for me!! Never actually said "Ram Cleared" just had a long box across the screen that filled up and POOF it was back!!)
  4. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the DEL key. While holding DEL, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now". Follow the instructions for the TI-83 family or TI-84 Plus family to reinstall the calculator operating system.
  5. Remove all of the batteries including the round lithium battery for 5 minutes. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and turn the calculator on. Adjust the contrast if necessary.
Voyage Solutions:

For the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage™ 200:
  1. Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
  2. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the Diamond Key key followed by pressing and releasing the [+] key; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the [-] key.
  3. Users of the TI-89 Titanium or Voyage 200 should see the following case before performing the following reset procedure to prevent the loss of valuable Apps.
On the TI-92 family or Voyage 200, hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key, then press and release the [on] key. On the TI-89 family, press and hold the [2nd] key, left arrow, and right arrow; then press and release the [on] key. This should reinitialize the operating system, in which you should see a progress bar filling on the screen.
  4. Remove one of the AAA or AA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. TI-89, 92 Plus, or Voyage 200 users should see "Press I to install code...", and should press the [9] key. The calculator should then say, "Waiting to receive...". TI-89 Titanium users should see "Waiting to receive..." or "Waiting to received OS...". You will need to restore the calculator's operating system.

Dead Pixels

Not much you can do about that, sorry. You could try to replace the screen but I would not suggest this without lots of electronic knowledge.
