I have Sony Wega 50" 4 years old LCD projection TV. A year back, I have replaced the lamp first time and 2nd second time I have changed it a month back. Noticed every 10-15min, TV blanks out for 30 sec and come back. Would like to know what could be the possible problem?
Usually this is a classic lamp problem, but it could also relate to a defective lamp ballast (power supply).
Now if you are replacing lamps frequently, it's likely the lamp isn't getting enough airflow to keep it cool. If you don't get the airflow issue solved it will take out the thermal safety fuse near the lamp and your set won't come on and the power light will blink red 6 times repeating itself until you unplug it. Some lamp fans are so deeply nested it takes a trained tech to get them out. Dusty environments are bad for TV's with fans in them, especially projection types.

The board that call the Ballast board might dead,require replacing.This Ballast board only job are to ignite the tv projection lamp.The tv projection lamp been inside the tv like 1 1/2 or 2 years already?Yes.Tv used it everyday like 4 or 5 hrs daily?Yes,the tv should be replacing it projection lamp too.Tv projection lamp life are ending too.
Its possible that one of your fans has failed, and or it could be the lamp itself. Sony television will not power on if a fan is faulty. Open the back of unit and look at all fans to make sure they are running, if so then replace your lamp.
Hi, Symptom shows that TV needs Lamp replacement. Sony TV Lamp is available in Part Store and lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual of TV.
Remove the lamp and check to see if the connections of the lamp and the lamp driver(ballast) are ok or they look bit burned.Also the lamp should always be replaced first especially if is two years old or more.
Check to see how many times the error indicator flashes.If it flashes 5 times then the lamp driver is probably defective.
