Once you have removed the U shaped cotter pin whis is brass in colour. Use a pair of plyers and hold on to the brass stem. you will need to pull fairly hard to remove. If you have the white or black stem loosening knob which comes with the replacement cartridge you can insert that into the brass cartridge where the plastic sides of the cartridge are showing. Turn your plastic konb clockwise to loosen the cartridge and then pull out.

Just had this same thing, on this exact faucet. If you still have the manual, it has instructions on how to rotate the valve for back to back installations where one shower has the hot/cold reversed. Our contractor got ours in backwards the first time and I had to call and have them come out and rotate the valve this morning.

Hello. It sounds like your plumbing was installed wrong, with the hot and the cold supply lines reversed. If that is the case, those supply lines will have to be replumbed to make your faucet work properly. Often, if those lines are accessable, it is only a 20 minute job. Joe

Behind the handle check to see if it has a dail to take out and replace at a different postion this will change the hot and cold. It a anti scald protection device. Don't remove cartridge just adjust dail.
Mark where you start and take out and move a 1/8-1/4 turn at a time and replace til temp desired. It has teeth like a gear you move to adjust temp.
