The main fuse in the microwave oven has blown, usually caused by one or two defective door switches.

SOURCE: GE Spacemaker XL1800 (JVM1860WD 002) Stoped Working.

The control panel has built-in surge protection, and the high voltage probably tripped that. It will have to be repaired, which we do nationwide for only $39.95 postpaid. By rights, I would say the electrician should be the one to see to the repairs, including removing the control panel assembly to send in for repair. We have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams by entering your full model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I currently have the same problem and Neff can't fix it. Problem is a short on one of the boards. Currently the required replacement boards are not available.

It may be the internal fuse, or the thermal fuse / thermostat / thermal cutout on the magnetron. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: Doesn't work

No model number?? I'd be pretty suspicious why someone removed the model / serial tag!!

I'd be even more suspicious if someone sold you a microwave with such a serious problem without informing you of it in the auction item description beforehand.

H98 means you have a bad inverter, magnetron, or control board.

You can find a troubleshooting chart for this error code here.
