Tanks are no longer available. Search for used units on your local craigslist.com. This model was previously made by Holmes and tanks were the same on HM3500, HM3501. Search "Holmes humidifier" then search "sunbeam humidifier" on your local craigslist.org

most bigger towns will have one or two show up. Keep an eye out. People who move to a house (or install) a whole house humidifier sell their old units. We have two of the exact model and I bought a new in box 3501 from a Craigslist posting in September 2013!

The humidifier has a float valve in it much like a toilet tank does. If the water gets to low, the float valve should allow more water to enter the tank automatically. When it reaches the proper level, the float valve stops the water. The water line (either copper or plastic) coming into the humidifier should have a shutoff valve on it. Make sure that it is turned on.

after scouring the INTERNET AND FINDING PLENTY OF SITES THAT WOULD SELL ME THE WHOLE CAP FOR 24.00. I MAD MINE USING SOMETHING FROM ace hardware THAT COST 2.50 Small suction cups with the hook [CDBL-7500S11] PART NUMBER 7500 .CAN BE MODIFIED INTO MAKING YOUR OWN GASKET. IT WORKED FOR ME ..REMOVE HOOK FROM SMALL SUCTION CUP. cut off nib with sharp pair of scissors. THEN DRILL HOLE THROUGH CENTER OF CUP WITH 7/64 DRILL BIT. re insert plunger part of cap through cap with spring and re- attach suction cup instead of gasket. MINE WORKS FINE ON A HOLMES 3700

you check at local hardware stores. or if your in canada check with canadian tire. if nobody has it locally. you might have to call the manufacturer to order it directly from them.

I had the same problem with my Holmes HM5601 humidifer unit - right out of the box. I almost returned the unit to the store, but was able to figure-out the problem. Not enough water had been filling the heating section (where that black knob-like protrusion is) and the lack of enough water had caused the unit to shut-off soon after plugging it in. The problem is in valve at the bottom of the water tank! The valve is a factory defect. It needs to open more when you sit the water tank onto the base so water fills the reservoir. I had solved the problem by going to the hardware store and purchasing some small, rubber pads or feet. These rubber pads are the type used to place under things where you want to protect a table-top from being scratched or you want the item not to slide too easily on a table-top. These rubber feet or pads have an adhesive on the bottom of them. Find the size that matches the diameter of the valve stem on the bottom of the water tank. Once installed, the valve should open and close with your finger without the rubber pad interferring with the operation of the valve. The pad, if installed properly, makes contact with the water reservoir base when you placed the water tank down onto that base. The valve open a bit more allowing water to pass-thru and fill the water reservoir. Water fills the heating section as needed and the unit runs perfectly after! The round rubber pad I had used was about an 1/8 inch thick and 1/2 inch in diameter.

first make sure the unit if off first then take the tank off and then tank the rest off of the base. once you take the part with the fan off the filter goes right in there. if you have any other questions please let me know.
