Audio has quit. Will not play through speakers nor through connected stereo. No issues last night. Have checked all settings, internal speakers are 'on'. Tried playing DVD, no sound through TV speakers but do have audio thru connected stereo. Replaced HDMI cable, still no sound. Picture quality is still high. Appears to have no audio output being sent anywhere (internal TV speakers or out to component stereo).
My sony bravia tv turns on pics fine but i cant get any sound coimg out from the tvtv. i have tried to the setting and everything but still not working!
I would Google the model number carefully for "problems" "no sound" and usually this set will display some kind of error code===it may even have a hard reset to try===service manuals are available on the net/web to allow you to see how the sound circuit is set up etc.

i had the same problem and the only way i could solve it was to disconnect power from the tv, let it "reset" then it would be ok for a bit. the problem went away entirely when the cable company updated its software for its hd box. might be coincidence....
also, pre-update, the resolution wouldnt automatically set correctly. If I turned on the tv to a hi def station, it would set to 480 and only set to 1080 when i changed to a normal station then back to the hd. then it was fine. again, after the update from the cable company this went away.

I had the same problem with the same configuration. In addition to the HDMI which is (DVD and Audio OUT only by the way) you need to connect the TV to the DVD through a high quality SCART cable as well. Remember to connect the SCART cable only while both the TV and DVD are switched off. To get the TV sound out of the DVD surround sound you need to click the FUNCTION key on the DZ230 remote a couple of times till you get the word TV on its screen, this is when you should hear the TV sound coming out of your surround sound as expected. Good luck.

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.
To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).
