I have been having issues with my acer aspire for a little while now, when plugged in to charge it would flash the orange charging light instead of keeping a steady on. I thought this was a connection fault in the lead and brought a new charger. This seemed to solve the problem, for a few weeks.... then I thought it was probably the battery as it was 2 years old, so I replaced the battery.... this seem to solve it for a few weeks. Next I looked on forums to see others with similar probems, suggestions such as discharging it by unplugging everything and holding the power button down for various lengths of time and in different orders were followed - again this seemed to solve it for a few weeks, now I have tried reinstalling the charger by following instructions on here. I've even tried various virus scans. However my laptop still won't charge with either battery/charger and I now have no power left in my battery to even turn it on! Can any please help?
If it does not work with the Charger while the battery is out then I would say either your charger is bad, the dc power jack where the charger plugs into the laptop is bad or you've got motherboard issues. Does the charger have a light on it to indicate that it is on when plugged in the wall? Do you see any lights when you plug the charger into the laptop?
Take an ink pen and see if the little pin inside the computer where the charger plugs is loose and moves a bit. If so that is probably your problem. If the pin is tight and the charger works, then you've got motherboard issues.

you got a bad battery. If your old battery works fine, and the new one wont hold a charge, Take it back to the store and get another.

Try this:
Drain the static on the computer by removing the battery and the power adapter. then press the power button for 1 minute and release. Then plugged the battery back in and turned on the computer, if the computer won't come on plugged the Adapter back to the computer and try turning it on.
If problem persist it is possible that the battery already busted and you need a replacement.
Hope it would help.

Sorry. It seems that your battery is dead.
If your laptop is working fine on AC power only (with the battery disconnected), then your battery will need to be replaced.

Does it work if you remove the battery and run it on mains power only?
