Try an external monitor to the laptop and see if it flickers. If it does, more than likely your video card is going bad. If it does not flicker on the external monitor you probably have a loose video cable or lcd inverter cable. Go back inside and remove the 2 cables that go into the LCD Inverter that sits at the bottom of the LCD Screen, then plug them back in. Then unplug the video cable at the top behind the lcd screen, plug it back in and secure it with a piece of tape right where the two connections meet.

I tore down the lpatop and re-seted the plug for the monitor, to the mother board. Only one plug goes to the screen. The flickering seems better, but only when the laptop is plugged in, not on the battery. The big issue is that the screen is very dim and almost too dim to read, except when very dark.
When plugged into a monitor eveything is good.
Did you tear down the lcd screen? I think the problem is with the LCD Screen where the cable connects from the motherboard to the back of the lcd screen at the top. Also your dimness might be because of the lcd inverter at the bottom of the lcd screen. It has two cables on it. Unplug and plug back in the cable at the back of the lcd screen at the top and the two cables to the lcd inverter at the bottom of the lcd screen.
The lcd screen is new, so I did not break it down. Also, there's only one cable that plugs in the bottom, of the screen. Don't know where the inverter is.
Also tried to turnm up the brightness all the way, but it didn't make a difference. saw no diiference when increasing it
any ideas?
It definitely sounds like they might have sold you a screen with a faulty lcd inverter. You can go to ebay and just type in Dell 1525 LCD Inverter just to see what one looks like. It is under the strip that goes around the lcd screen at the very bottom and there is to cables plugged into it. One cable comes from the system board and the other comes from the monitor (when pulled out looks like a tooth). Most times when you can barely see icons on the desktop it's the lcd inverter.
There are keys on the laptop that control the brightness. Normally you would have to press the FN or the ALT key and hold it while you press the key that controls the brightness.
If you are not using your power cord then the screen will be dimmer to conserve energy.
The company I bought the screen replacement from, stated that "LED screens do not require inverters; only CCFL LCD screens." I didn't know I had LED. How can I tell?
