When trying to take still pictures, the camera begins snapping a picture every 5-7 seconds. Regardless of what settings I attempt to change, this continues. Sometimes this even happens when the card is not engaged (i.e. when importing video). Is this a problem with the memory card or the camera itself? Anything I can do to fix it, or does it require pro repairs?

i think it need to be service your camera now cause some contact of the switch are having a resistance or been shorted...cause that wiring is made of carbon....it have to clean the switch and the terminal contact cause of some carbon build up you will notice this if the terminal and switch are not color silver ..don't attempt to clean that if you are not a technician...is our shop we simply clean it buy a pencil eraser....i think it need to be service your camera now cause some contact of the switch are having a resistance or been shorted...cause that wiring is made of carbon....it have to clean the switch and the terminal contact cause of some carbon build up you will notice this if the terminal and switch are not color silver ..don't attempt to clean that if you are not a technician...is our shop we simply clean it buy a pencil eraser....

Troubleshoot the issue and see if we can get it working properly:
Check the Camera Mode:
Make sure the camera is not in Handheld mode. If it is, switch it to Auto mode. The camera won't take pictures if the SD card is in Protect mode.
Review Settings:
Confirm that the camera is powered on.
Check if it's set to take photographs when it detects motion or if it's in time-lapse mode.
Perform an IR Filter Reset:
Take your camera into a completely dark room.
Walk or wave in front of the camera to trigger it to take a picture.
Turn on the lights and trigger the camera to take another picture.
Repeat this process 6 to 8 times. This will reset the IR filter, and better photos should be on the way.
Check the Viewing Screen:
Moultrie game cameras have a built-in viewing screen. Ensure that the screen is functioning properly.
If the display screen continues to show "snap" without capturing images or videos, consider contacting Moultrie customer support for further assistance.
you should have swithced the cam to timer mode....modify it...since you are unable to take pictures try to reset(initialize) your camera...that should help
This function lets you take pictures using the self-timer. Fix the camera securely on a tripod for self-timer shooting. This function is useful for taking pictures when you want to be included in the photograph.
1 Select [ON], and press Z. 2 Press the shutter button fully to take the picture. • Pressing the shutter button halfway locks the focus and exposure. • The self-timer lamp lights for approximately 10 seconds, then starts blinking. After blinking for approximately 2 seconds, the picture is taken. • To stop shooting while in n mode, press the shutter button fully again. • To cancel the self-timer, press Z. • The self-timer mode is automatically canceled after one shot.
Note: • If sequential shooting is attempted in self-timer mode, the camera shoots 5 frames at most regardless of the setting.

Set the camera to anything except no flash. Turn it off. Take out the battery. Wait 5-10 seconds. Put the battery back in. The flash should now work until you turn the camera off again (and then you must remove/replace the battery to get the flash working again).
