SOURCE: how do i fix my

Your laptop can't find an operating system, check the operating system as it installed properly. If its is then you need to check the hard disk drive of your laptop because it is missing from the motherboard.

Alienware 17" notebook with windows 8 shutting self down at startup

If it's 3 weeks old return it. Or you can do a System Restore/Recovery. Take a look at this forum for the Restore/Recovery Procedure: http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19441985.aspx

How to tell if a hard drive is bad

Usually you'll get some errors in the system event log saying the hard drive is going bad. If it won't boot then you can put it in another computer or hard drive enclosure to test.

Dell latitude e5510 laptop got blue screen saying that a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer but it wont do anything ele's help any one

have you made any changes before the blue screen appear? installing a driver maybe? if you have, try to undone those changes by booting with Startup with last known good configuration (undo recent registry and driver change),use System Restore,or Roll Back device driver,Scan your computer for viruses
and Return BIOS settings to their default levels,go to BIOS by pressing F2 or del exactly after you press the power button and the screen show up
if it still in blue screen, that's probably that some of your system file is missing, and you need to reinstall your operating system
Please let me know if it's working or not,i don't like to abandon anyone, and thanks for using fixya

Yes normally if you don't shut down your system properly you get this message, Solution : Log on to save mode and backdate your computer to the day before you got this message. If it doesn't work, you are gonna need to reinstall your O.S.

My screen will just be black after when it should go to the blue login screen. how do i fix it?

In the BIOS setup under Video choose the built-in adapter and no Dock video. Save and Exit BIOS setup. The system reboots. If it does again doesn't give you the blue login screen, press and hold the power button to shut it down. Restart it again and immediately after the Dell screen press and hold Function & hit the function key with the display on it. I think it believes you want your primary video to go to an external monitor. This should correct it if that is the cause of your boot-up blankness.

When I turn on my computer it begins the boot then goes black

Try booting into safe mode. That will disable all drivers and use generic windows drivers to send commands to the devices. If that still doesnt work, id say that there is a problem with your OS installation. Backup your files using an external harddrive enclosure and reinstall the OS.
