Imagemixer 3 - Canon HS10 camcorder --no sound in captured video on computer

Have Canon HS10 camcorder connected via usb cable. Imagemixer 3 captures audio / video and plays fine within that software. But if you load the file in Roxio Buzz, Picasa, Media Player, etc. get video but no audio.
Also I can transfer audio / video file from SD card in camcorder and load into the above programs and it works fine. Must be something the Imagemixer program is doing. Any ideas?

I've edited a whole video, but when I pulled the file to playback so I could burn it there wasn't any audio.

Are you trying to shoot from a TV or computer monitor? If so, check the frame rate--30frames per sec (fps) or 15fps. If it is on 30fps, changing to 15fps should solve the problem.

You may have used a different USB port on the computer. Try a different one.
Generally, any USB port would work, except that some devices create a "Virtual USB" connection that is configured with a specific USB port.

Let us know if this helped...

When I try to capture a video into the imagemixer software, it says it does not recognize the camcorder.

lets see if it's a software issue or not.try to use windows moviemaker as your video capturing software instead of imagemixer. if issue is with imagemixer alone, you may want to uninstall and reinstall and update the software.check website for update: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/disoft/int/pixela/imx/dl/index.html and download the free update for imagemixer ver.1.5 for sony.
if still it's not recognize we can isolate the issue with the camera or connection. if your using usb, make sure you have the usb driver installed properly.you can download the device driver at this website: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV350 and make sure you don't have the camcorder connected during the installation.also have the usb stream setting (under setup menu) set to on (see:p.221 of your manual). after that the camcorder should be recognized. if your link connection (ieee1394 or dv) it should be a plug-and-play connection. better check computer connections and connected device in device manager screen to see if the cam is listed as an unknown device.if it does, you can be sure nothing is wrong with the usb cable. it can be a connection.issue.try diff ports if available (usb back port at the back is recommended for use, that is directly connected to the motherboard) and check. if the cam doesn't show or you don't have any indication that it's connected.try using a diff usb cable.if still doesn't try using a diff compatible PC.use same procedure.if' it's still the same, unit may require service.hope this helps.thanks:)

Connecting a sony ccd-trv46e to a computer

Yes, it is possible to connect your Sony CCD-TRV46E camcorder to a computer. In order to do so, you will need a few things:
  1. A video capture device: This device converts the analog video signal from your camcorder into a digital format that your computer can understand. There are several types of video capture devices available, such as USB capture devices, FireWire capture devices, and HDMI capture devices.
  2. A cable to connect the camcorder to the video capture device: The cable you need will depend on the type of video capture device you choose. For example, if you choose a USB capture device, you will need a USB cable. If you choose a FireWire capture device, you will need a FireWire cable.
  3. Software to control the capture process: There are many software options available that can be used to control the capture process, such as VLC, Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere, etc.
It seems that you have a cable that connects the camera to the power supply, and another one that is not supposed to connect to anything. To connect your Sony CCD-TRV46E to a computer you will need a specific cable called AV cable (Audio Video cable) that has a yellow plug for video, white and red for audio and a small round plug for power.
Please double check the user manual for your camera and make sure that it supports the transfer of video to a computer before you buy the AV cable or the video capture device.

Canon vixia hv 30 not recognized by computer

This camcorder uses USB for pictures only. To access pictures, plug in USB cable, set the camcorder to Play and to Memory Card.

To transfer video you need a firewire cable and card. Actual cable will depend on connection your computer has, typically it will be something like this: FireWire_cables.jpg

Additionally, to transfer video you will need a video capture software and codecs, unless the software has the codecs (Nero does). Unfortunately all free video editing software I tried was unable to deal with HD. I had various levels of success with Windows Movie Makver, Ulead and Nero.

You may want to record video in non-HD, and see if you are able to capture that. If your computer can capture that but not HD, and you have the codecs installed, you will need to investigate your computer.

If all you need is a codec, here is a good free candidate: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

It is of course very frustrating that Canon would include nothing with the camcorder to assist users with video caputure.

Canon HS10 camcorder and Imagemixer 3

To play the audio you need to download the AC3 filter pack here: http://www.free-codecs.com/AC3_Filter_download.htm. I have no idea why Canon didn't bundle this codac with all of the software they provide, but it worked for me. I use a Canon FS100, and had no sound in WMP (or any other Windows apps except VLC Media Player) until installing this.

Pinnacle Studio will work with your camcorder. You can either plug the camcorder into the computer and capture the video to your hard drive or you can import the DVD into the hard drive.

Looks like Imagemixer isn't available anymore according to a Google search.

I have no sound on my sony handycam

Sony got back to me with the answer, so I will post it here for future reference.
If there is no audio when USB streaming with PIXELA ImageMixer version 1.5 software on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, change the USB capture device setting for sound to USB Audio Device. In the Image Mixer Tool settings, confirm the USB Capture Device settings are set for an available USB Audio Device. This setting is not defaulted to the USB streaming mode.

This would be the icon of an open end wrench in the top right hand corner of the capture environment screen.

Follow this procedure to change the USB capture device setting for sound in the Pixela ImageMixer 1.5 software.

1. In the ImageMixer window, click the USB Device Capture icon.

2. Click the Preferences icon.

3. In the Capturing/Recording Preferences window, in the USB Capture Device Setting section, click the down arrow to select the desired sound device.

4. Click the OK button.

For any request for processing or editing assistance you may visit the PIXELA help file. You may also contact them at the following website:

No Sound when Capturing

ah. This happens to me sometimes. Well, for some reason it always works when i first open USB streaming tool( this program is not for recording)use the program to edit the video, like to fix brightness etc. Then open capturing tool. This is what you use to capture the video to your computer. What i do is to press the play button in the program, not the capture button. The video on the camcorder and the video on your screen should start playing. I do this just to test the video if its gonna have sound or not. Then you rewind the video by pressing the rewind button in the program. After that press the capture button. Sometimes it records and you don't hear the sound on the computer, I'm not sure but maybe after its captured into the computer, the video will have sound. If you do record, but with no sound, record about a minute and then stop it. Go to where you saved the video and check if there is any sound. Hope this helps you. Sorry if it's kinda confusing because i don' use the program no more. I use a DVD recorder which you connect your camcorder to the DVD player and it burns the video directly to a DVD. Its much mroe easier but you can't play around with it on the computer.

Connecting analong camcorder to computer

The only Analog camcorder that has a USB Connection for transferring pictures or video is the SC-L770. The SC-L770 can transfer video (live or recorded) and still photos through the USB connection. You can also transfer audio using the audio cable provided. After installing the driver and software, you can begin transferring data using the software provided. Connecting to a PC 1. Connect a USB cable to the USB port on the PC. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable into the proper terminal on the camcorder. (USB jack) 3. Connect the audio cable to the Line input jack of the PC. If the PC has no Line input jack, connect the audio cable to the MIC input jack. In this case, however, a noise may be produced depending on the PC. Notes: * If you disconnect the USB cable from the PC or the camcorder while transferring, the data transmission will stop and the data may be damaged. * If you connect the USB cable to a PC via a USB HUB or simultaneously connect the USB cable along with other USB devices, the camcorder may not work properly. * In this case, remove the other USB devices from the PC and reconnect the camcorder. Some other Analog Camcorders have a snapshot mode which allows you to take a still photo with your camcorder. However, you cannot transfer these to a computer unless you purchase additional hardware such as a capture card. Some capture cards have analog a/v inputs which will allow you to use the a/v outputs on the camcorder to connect to your pc and transfer images and video. You can purchase a capture card at most computer and electronics stores. Samsung does not support capture cards.
