My Sony XBR 46 HX929 is about 5 months old. Last week it lost the video signal for several minutes and did not return untilI turned off the set for several minutes. Over the past two days the picture will dim and flicker for several minutes. Any ideas as to what is causing this ?

NTSC and ATSC and that would depend if or which set will get the better signal. Also remember that off air is analog and the sets are now design for digital.

Please make sure that the connections are secure.
If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Please try connecting the TV to a different wall outlet and check if that helps.
