Connecting problem After connecting the USB cable to the computer and the button is pressed, it says: connecting to computer, but it doesn't happen. The green light on the camera blinks and repeats blinking, but nothing happens. Using Vista and initially, the spinning circle appears but nothing happens. Used installation disc but it does not download, in that when we go to cameras & printers on our control panel, the printer shows, but the camera doesn't. We were able to download pictures at one time, but cannot figure if there is a camera problem or if it's the computer.

Exact same problem, and I have used my camera connected to the same just fine for years. My stepfather did connect a webcam which coincided roughly with the connection issue but he's not so available. Any solutions? I have almost a thousand pictures to download of my kids and cards to print before the holidays!

The easiest way to transfer images is to put the media card into a card reader attached to your computer.

It sounds as though your lens is jammed. The clicking sound is likely the camera trying to open the lens and failing, then it turns itself off. Check with your manufacturer for recalls and technical bullitins. See if they will service the camera under warranty. If you cannot get it serviced economicly at the factory there are repair services on the internet who will work on your camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

When I plug cable from camera to USB computer connection, nothing happens!

Not enough information. The transferring of files requires a sequence of functions to happen before the pictures will transfer to the computer. You will need the camera software installed on the computer. The camera sequence for transfer and each camera is different, some just need you to turn the camera on after connecting the USB cable while others require you press the "Playback" button to transfer files. Depending on the camera software installed on a computer they "normally" download to a file folder then the pictures can be opened in the software programing.

Hi,

Please follow the steps below for connecting the Camera to the Computer for transferring the images.

Turn the Camera ON.

Turn the Computer ON.

Make sure to Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera.

Set the USB CONNECT option in the Setup 2 Menu of the Camera to PTP. [Set the Mode dial of the Camera to Camera, press the Menu button, select SETUP-->SETUP2-->USB CONNECT-->PTP-->OK.]

Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable.

The Computer will automatically install the USB Driver for the Camera.

In the Importing Pictures and Videos window, click the Import button.

If the USB connection from the camera is not recognized by the computer, disconnect the USB cable and repeat changing the USB CONNECT option to PictBridge, Mass Storage or Auto.

Hello, We've just bought a FInePix XP10 and can't get the camera to connect to our computer or TV using the supplied USB cable. Camera screen reads 'USB' which suggests something's happening but nothing...

The camera's memory will appear as a disk drive in "My Computer" (Windows). You will find your images as files in a directory on that drive. I don't know about connecting to a TV- presumably it has a USB socket, so I imagine that it will access the camera as a disk drive as well. You will need to read your TV manual to discover how that works. Possibly you press the play button to get a menu onscreen, or the USB button if there is one.

When i connect vivitar vivicam 3815 with usb to computer it does nothing!

Some cameras need to be configured to connect to a computer before connecting it to a computer. Please see your manual. If it doesn't need to be configured, try connecting it to another usb port on your computer. You have to make sure that the usb cable your using to connect the camera to the computer is not defective. Try using another cable. Also, try connecting another device to the computer using usb connection to make sure that the usb port is not damaged. If again, nothing happens, then you have to consider that the usb port on your computer is damaged and you need to contact your computer's manufacturer for it.

Not connecting to laptop

Hello!

Please consider the steps given below to troubleshoot the issue while connecting the Camera to the HP Computer using a USB cable.

(i) Before connecting the Camera to the Computer, first initialize the Camera to the original factory settings by following the steps given below:
(a) Turn ON the Camera then press the Home button to display the home screen.
(b) Select Settings with left/right arrow on the control button.
(c) Select Main Settings 1 by using up/down arrow on the control button.
(d) Next, select Initialize and OK.
Performing the above steps will reset the Camera to the original factory settings. After resetting the Camera to the original factory settings, turn off the Camera and remove the battery pack then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

(ii) Then, reinsert the Battery pack and turn ON the Camera and press the Home button. Select Settings using the left/right arrow on the Control button.

(iii) Next, select the Main Settings 2 option then select "USB Connect".

(iii) In the USB connect, please select the "PTP/MTP" option.

(iv) Next, connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable to get it recognized. Please make sure that the Computer is recognizing other USB devices when connected to it.

If the Computer still doesn't recognize the Camera then check in the Device Manager window for any exclamation mark.

Please press the Windows logo on the Keyboard and then press the "R" key while holding down the Windows logo key to open the Run dialog box. Then, please type "devmgmt.msc" in the Run dialog box and click OK to open the Device Manager window. In the Device manager, click on the plus sign next to each category and check for any exclamation mark, if there is any then right click on the device and click uninstall. After uninstalling all the devices with the exclamation mark in the Device Manager, please restart the Computer with the Camera remain connected.
After restarting the Computer, the Camera should be listed in the Computer window (windows logo+E key) as a removable drive.

If the issue persists even after performing all the above steps then the issue may be related to the Operating System. In that case, you may try reinstalling the Windows.

Hp all in one

Try the follwoing steps, i m sure that it will start working bcoz i tried the same steps and my printer started working:

  1. Turn the power to the computer off.
  2. Press the power button to turn off the product.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Press the power button to turn the product back on.
  6. When the computer restarts, try the scan again.
  • If the issue is not resolved , try some other troubleshooting:
  • Connect USB cable directly to the computer and then restart the product and try to scan again
  • If the product still does not work , try some other steps:
  • Connect the USB cable to a USB hub or a docking station for a laptop. 1. Restart the computer and the product and try to scan again.
  • If the product doesnot works after connecting the USB cable directly to the computer , follow these steps:
      1. Reconnect the USB cable.
      2. Try the scan again.
        • If the product worked when the USB cable was connected directly to the computer, but does not work after reconnecting the USB cable in the original configuration, there might be a problem with the hub or docking station. Either leave the USB cable connected directly to the computer, or contact the manufacturer of the hub or docking station for troubleshooting.
If the product does not work after connecting the USB cable directly to the computer , follow these steps.
      1. Replace the USB cable.
      2. Try the scan again.
        • If the product does not work with the new cable, continue to the next solution.
Now, if this doesnot work, there is a conflicting USB device connected to the computer
    1. Disconnect all other USB devices from the computer except for the keyboard, the mouse, and the product.
    2. Try the scan again.
      • The issue would be resolved now and teh answer is that the computer might not have sufficient power supplied to the USB ports to detect multiple USB devices. HP recommends installing a USB powered hub to connect multiple USB devices.
