Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC33 Digital Camera Logo

Error message I have a panasonic DMC-LC33 digital. A system error message would show the minute I turned it on. The lens would come out. Then within 4 seconds the lens would go back in. I tried the on/off several time but the results were the same. I put the camera away for later. When I tried it the other day, it would not even turn on. The batteries are fully charged. Help!!!!!! I need my camera for my work.

Yes! Same Problem here! Trouble Shooting in Cam Manual suggests pressure to the lens. So I took an Air Hose to the lens numerous times during the 3-4 seconds the lens would come out before retracting back in and giving the "System Error" message...this did not help! I called Panasonic Tech Support at 1-800-211-7262 and they told me they charge flat rate fee of $111.50 + my states sales tax to fix cam and to send Cam TO: Panasonic Camera & Digital Repair Center 1590 Touhy Ave. Elkgrove, IL 60007......I am to send cam, a check or money order and my contact info....Hmmm, sounds to me like a standard operating system malfunction for them to make another 120 bucks off of me...Surely there has to be another way for me to bypass this malfunction!

*&%$@#%^&*&^% !!"It's working!!!! Turn your camera on and put it near your ear. Did you hear a softly motorized sound in the lenses area and the green LED is flashing? If you hear this sound do this. Do it under your own responsability. (any way your camera does not work). When you turn on the camera wait until the lenses come out, in that moment grab the lens with your hand and don't let it go back. The camera will turn off but the lens will stay out. With the camera off push in the lens with your hand. Turn on the camera and that's it. I had to do it 2 times, but now my camera it's working again. This system error could be caused because the lens get out of it rail and the camera can not set the focus system.

Another Solution: I let the Lense come out and then quickly take out the batteries.
With the lense out I gently tap the bottom of the camera on a table top. Next wipe both lense barrels with a clean cotton cloth.
Put the batteries in and the camera works great.
Repeat process if camera lense is not put back in it's track.

Camera lens will not retract - sistem error (focus)

Lens errors (system errors on Panasonics) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Cannot format a maxwell class 2 4 gb card for my lumix dmc-lc33

The DMC-LC33 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. While it fits into the slot it will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.
