The thing has gone nuts, it throws me off and online and restarts at random. Yes restarts. I have spent hours over several days with techs /reps from the ISP and it is driving me absolutely nuts. they set it to bridged since I use a router Linksys cisco one, which has not given me any problems in several years. It just suddenly has gone nuts. I cannot connect to the site 192.168.0.1 since they set it to bridged. If I could just rest it to factory default I could work from there but its blazing insane

hi!
is the modem still new? if you have purchased it along with your dsl service from your ISP, then they should be the one to give you the warranty. however, if you bought it from best buy, walmart, etc. then you may not receive any warranty from your ISP, but you can let them replace it (especially if it's still a few months from the date of purchase) as for the phone no. well, these centers (for sales, billing, customer service, maintenance, etc.) work only during normal business hours, the ISP tech support is the one working 24/7.
here's their site:
www.siemens.com/it-solutions-contact
and may I ask, why did the tech said it's defective? no power light? if the power light is on & the rest are solid lights or blinking (regardless if it's red or green...), the modem is still ok, it just doesn't have sync, but if power light is off, after plugging it from another power outlet on the wall, then that's the time when we can say it's defective.
here's the support no. 1-800-241-4453 or write them @

I have a steps by step guide on how you setup the router.
3. If the internet is
still not working; we will need to adjust a setting on the router setup
page. To access the setup page of the router you need to open your
internet explorer or Firefox on the computer that is hardwired directly
to the router. In the address bar of your browser (Internet Explorer or
Firefox) type http://192.168.1.1/
and hit enter or click Go. It will ask you for a username and password.
Just type "admin" for the password field and there is no username. If
you have ran the setup CD prior to this, then use the password that you
have set when were running the setup CD.
4. Once you
are in the setup page of your router make sure that the Internet
Connection Type is set to Automatic Configuration DHCP, then click the
save the settings button at the bottom of the page. After saving the
settings, click the sub tab at the very top of the page that says MAC
Address Clone. Set it to enable and click the button that will say
Clone or Clone your PC's MAC and save the settings again.
5.
After doing step 4, do a power cycle. Power cycle is done by turning of
the router, modem and computer. Leave them off for a minute, tuned them
back on in this order. Modem first wait for the lights to stabilize,
then the router wait until the power light become solid. Then turn on
the computer. This will get you online through the router.
Check if this will help get the router online.

I thought it might be of help or interest to note this "seems" to be only happening ( kicking me offline still and restarting the modem at random on its own) when I log into Second Life... This is not anything I have had any problems with before and have had this set up for some time. I did get the modems set back the way they were previously and have had my net up most of the day. I will try a different viewer. Graphics driver was updated, maybe that will help but I seriously suspected some ethernet cable problems. Now I am not sure. I will try another viewer and see how it reacts to second life now.
