Sony Media Remote for Android Logo

The number of devices that can be registered has been exceeded.

I'm trying to connect my STR-DN1020 AV receiver - the receiver reports and sees my android (and looks like it's registered) but the handset won't register it and says "the number of devices that can be registered hs been exceeded"

I'm using an HTC Desire S (2.3.5) running Sony Media Remote (latest version). The AV receiver is new and nothing else has been registered with it

I have a partial fix, at least for my case...

Go to settings>> network>>home network setup>>remote device/rendered>>remote device list

And you can see a list of all the registered devices. Mine listed several old phones, I removed a couple devices and it allowed me to register a new one. Appears that the max is 5.

STR-DH520 Sony av receiver , Protect sign keeps coming on and I have no wires connected at all! How can I fix ??

There is most likely a short in the amp that needs to be repaired. Probably a pair of shroted output transistors as well as a few resistors will need to be replaced.

Str-de875. Remote is suddenly not making the amp work. the remote still turns tv on/off

does the light blink more than once when you select the 'contol the reciever now' button? I assume you push a button to switch which device the remote will control, and then push another button to astually have the device do something

Why does my Sony STR-K750P AV receiver automatically switch to Video 2?

Some models of systems will switch to a new source automatically if the source sees a new signal coming on. Try disconnecting the device on your Video 2 to see if this is the case.

I have seen the IC or component(s) in the switching circuits become defective and cause unpredictable or faulty operation. This can also be a fault condition you are seeing.

Can I connect a passive subwoofer Sony SS-W581T to a SONY receiver STR-DH510 ? Thank you

No. Like most AVR's it only provides a Line Level output for an externally powered subwoofer. Get a separate amp for the sub.

Connect the Wii to your television. Then connect the variable audio output from the TV to the audio in on the monitor section of the receiver. Then use the TV/SAT input selection on the receiver and dolby prologic 2 as your sound mode.

My Sony STR-DG500 wont turn on just clicks once and nothing.

Sounds like faulty psu (pwer suply unit) Amp is going into protection mode. Disconnected all speaker and av wires (only power) turn up volume and see if it stays on. If not psu, sounboard or volume function faulty. If on, connect one speaker L or R. Go to tuner mode to tuned radio station an listen for sounds. If on, connect speakers and av cables one by one and test each one on its own until amp switches off, Investigate from there were problem is. Make sure speakerwires is not shorting out.
