You either have a short in the wire or a stuck contactor

2002 4 ton Bryant air conditioner shuts off, fan still runs but not cooling is problem in the controls in the attic or in the AC unit or both?

With a non heat pump it is a simple 24 volt AC control circuit. In the attic there is a relay that is actuated via the fan control wire directly from the thermostat. On the thermostat there is an auto/man switch that controls the fan. Manual the fan runs all the time. Auto fan turns on and off with the outside compressor.

If the system is not calling for cool and the fan continues to run the fan relay is sticking. common problem. Sometimes after running for several days the relay will stop sticking if not, replace relay.

If the system is calling for cool and the compressor stops I would still expect the fan to run until thermostat tells the A/C to off. Some compressor units include a safety switch or high-pressure cut-out switch A blocked internal valve bad control board or external fan in outside unit defective no air flow in outside unit.
High pressure cut out not good,

Suggest turning temp max cool and observe. If acceptable cool and the compressor runs without interruption all is good, except for the blower in the attic. Safely check relay in attic blower circuit.

Hope this helps.

Rheem air conditioner fan comes on ,goes off ,comes on but not all of the time reaches room temp then goes off

If your description is in a few minutes, It sounds like a loose wire. If it is the outside fan motor to which you were referring, it should have 3 wires. Find those 3 wires and trace them back to the control board and main contactor. check the condition of any connections and the condition of the insulation. Next, If it is the blower motor, do the same thing.
It also sounds like it could be the control wiring. The blower control wire is the green wire coming from the thermostat and going to the fan control board in the air handler. If you have a loose connnection in the thermostat and/or loose connnection for some splice in that wire, it could interrupt the control power to the blower motor and cause it to cycle.
If it is the condensing fan on the condensing unit, it is the yellow wire. Check the same criteria as green wire above.

As far as the last of your inquiry, the air conditioner reaches temperature then turns off is normal and is not part of the problem your having.
The only other thing I can think of without more information, If the condensing unit comes on and shortly later turns off, the question is whether the condensing fan comes on when the compressor turns on. I had a case today, both the outdoor fan and compressor would not run, but the main contactor was pulled in, and voltage was available. It turns out the dual capacitor was bad and the condensing fan had stopped running and the compressor was cycling on the inherent motor protection inside the compressor. Inside the compressor is a bimetallic overtemperature switch that helps protect the compressor from getting to hot. This is your probable cause and can be determined by checking the temperature of the condensing fan motor and the temperature of the compressor. If both are so hot your hand gets burned, you probably need an new capacitor and outdoor fan motor. If the compressor cools by turning it off, the inherent motor protection will reset if it has not burned out. If after deenergizing the compressor cool off and will not reset, the compressor will have to be changed.

Hope this helps.

Haier HWR06XC9 fan stopped working

Either the fan motor
the fan control relay
or the fan control relay switching transistor
the unit is re starting because the gas is not getting cooled
If competent check for voltage at the fan and work you way back

Compressor will not stop running

There has to be a stat or switch or controller of some kind on the rv. I would check that first. If you have a battery operated stat then try changing the batts, otherwise it could be the contactor on the unit or a bad stat.

Air is cold. Compressor outside works. The condensor will run for a little while, then shut off while compressor is still running.

Outdoor condensing fan motor has stopped running. This problem could be caused by a bad motor run capacitor. purchase a new capacitor. If your motor capacitor is not the problem, then more than likely you need a new motor. Is the fan blade tight, stiff or hard to turn? If the fan blade is hard to turn then you probably need a new motor.bobicehouse_96.jpg

I have an amana 90 home air conditioner w/ a amana prestige compressor. compessor runs but cooling fan not turning ,fan is not locked up and unit has power .of course w/fan not turning home is not...

Could be a couple of reasons for this:
1. Condensor fan motor bad.
2. Condensor fan motor loss of power.
3. Condensor fan motor capictor bad.

Unit has control for fan for low ambient operation and unit is low on freon telling fan its cold out side and dont run.
Hope this helps. wally

Air conditioner fan will not come on and unit will run for 1 minute and stop

You hear the compressor kick in (Hum) but no fan comes on? Will the fan come on when just in fan mode, not cool, or do you have that set-up?

Out air compressor fan runs for about five minutes then the fan stops turning unit is about 5yrs old

if the compressor stays on for a short time after the fan stops most likly the fan motor has problems could be capactor or bearings dan

Compressor starts and doesn't stop

Relay for the compressor may be stuck ( Contacts welded) both the fan and the compressor should operate at the same time. Have the relay(s) checked and possibly replaced.
