JNM1851SM2SS replace light bulb

I am trying to replace the bulb inside this microwave JNM1851SM2SS. However, I don't see how I can remove the casing/cover behind which the bulb is. The casing/cover shows open/close directions....but twisting it doesn't open the same. There is a screw or something that is preventing the case/cover from turning . I don't want to break it by twisting too hard, Want to know how I can get this done.... Thanks for the response

Hi Mike.

Difficult to say on yours. You may try the following. On the back or side, if there is a little cover that's screwed into the panel. Otherwise browse around on the inside. Be sure to unplug the micro before checking. Once found be sure to replace with a microwave lamp and not a fridge lamp. There is a difference. Good Luck,JUS004

SOURCE: Neff Combined oven and microwave

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

SOURCE: My microwave bulbs don't work

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation or inside light, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

SOURCE: Have a Whirlpool RMC275PD microwave. Light bulb

If you see no removable panel inside the cavity, it will be necessary to remove the housing to replace the bulb. Because of the nature of microwave energy, the fewer sharp edges and other irregularities in the cavity, the happier the magnetron is since all those have some effect on the distribution of the energy and efficiency of the unit. That's why one should avoid having any larger metallic container in a microwave. Using aluminum foil to prevent the drying out of certain types of foods is permissible because the ratio between moisture content of the food and the reflection of energy caused by the foil is not significant and the energy is mostly absorbed instead of reflected.

FGMV205K cover removal

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you want to know how to remove the cover on your Frigidaire microwave, model# FGMV205K. There are two different covers that you are able to remove for access to two different light bulbs.

If you are trying to change the Microwave Oven Light for inside your microwave:

1)To replace light bulb, first disconnect power to your microwave oven at the circuit breaker panel or by unplugging it.

2)Remove the louver by removing the three Hood Louver Screws.

3)Push in the upper tabs and pull the louver away from your appliance.

4)Remove the light bulb and replace with a new 20 watt light bulb. DO NOT USE BULB LARGER THAN 20 WATTS.

5)Close the Oven Light Cover by carefully pushing into place. Push the louver back into place (engaging both the bottom and top tabs) and change to hood Louver Screws.

If you are trying to change the light bulbs underneath your Microwave:

1)To replace light bulbs, first disconnect power to your microwave oven at the circuit breaker panel or by unplugging it.

2)To open Light Cover, remove the screw on the light cover.

3)Replace the light bulbs with new 20 watt light bulbs. DO NOT USE BULBS LARGER THAN 20 WATTS.

4)Close the Light Cover and secure with screw removed at step 2.

If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please let me know the error codes displayed on your appliance. Hope this is helpful.

      -Best Regards-

I have to replace microwave light bulb. It's GE counter top Microwave JES1142PSE model. I hace opened the microwave and have located the bulb, but could not unscrew.I don't know needs to be pul

That exact model number is not showing up, so you may want to check the tag on or in the unit and look here for parts.
Most of the models in this class of ovens were not really made to be serviced, so GE only makes the turntable parts available.
It also sounds like your bulb is an assembly - the socket and bulb and one piece.
So your local appliance parts store should have a generic replacement for it. You should take the bulb.
Be careful when disconnecting the leads.

How to replace light bulb

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

If they don't cover replacement of the bulb, you'll have to take the cover off the oven.

ALWAYS unplug the oven before removing or installing light bulbs, or a surge can occur, requiring circuit board repair.

Ge jvm1790wk convection/microwave oven exterior light bulb burned out...I can't read volts and watts on the original bulb and don't find the information in the manual, what do I buy to replace it?

The cooktop light is 120V, 40W max., part number WB08X10051.

That's all covered on page 27 of your owner's manual here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven or part numbers here.

To replace the inside light, you'd need to remove the oven from the wall, and take off the outer cover.

How to halogen light bulbson my microwave JVM3670Sk03 I have changed one I know there is another one how do i change it please advice thanks anna

That's covered on pages 35 & 36 of your owner's manual.

If for some reason you don't have yours, you can download it here.

Cooktop Light/Night Light

On models JVM1850, JNM1851, DVM1850 and
EMO4000, replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt,
40-watt incandescent bulb (WB36X10003), available
from your GE supplier.

On models JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM2050 and
JVM3670, replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt,
20-watt halogen bulb (WB36X10213), available from
your GE supplier.

To replace the bulb(s), first disconnect the
power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel
or pull the plug.

Remove the screw at the left edge of the light
cover and push on the right edge of the cover
to open.

Be sure the bulb(s) to be replaced are cool
before removing. After breaking the adhesive
seal, remove the bulb by either gently turning
(for models JVM1850, JNM1851, DVM1850 and
EMO4000) or pulling straight out (for models
JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM2050 and JVM3670).

Replace with the same size and type bulb.

Raise the light shield and replace the screw.

Connect electrical power to the oven.

Oven Light

Replace the burned-out bulb with a 120 volt, 20-watt
halogen bulb (WB36X10213), available from your GE supplier.

To replace the oven light, first disconnect the
power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel
or pull the plug.

Remove the top grille by taking out the screws
on top of the grille that hold it in place and
sliding the grille to the left (opening the door
makes grille removal easier).

Next, remove the light cover.

On some models, the light cover is located
in the center of the top opening. Remove the
screw that secures the light cover and lift the
cover off.

On some models, the light cover is located at the
left of the top opening. Lift the cover off.

Pinch the clips that hold the light socket in
place and lift the socket out.

Remove the bulb from the light socket by
pulling straight out. Replace with the same size
and type bulb, then replace the light socket and
cover.

Replace the grille and screws. Connect electrical
power to the oven.

  2. Picture of your microwave with a phone or camera so that you don't forget how to assemble it back.
  3. Remove the two screws that holds grill. They are located at the edge of the unit. Once the screws are out, rotate the grill forward from the top. It will pop right out.
  4. Once the screws are out, rotate the grill forward from the top. The grill should pop right out.
  5. Locate a small access cavity on the left.
  6. Remove the screw that is located near the front of the microwave door.
  7. Lift up the sheet metal floor to access the bulb. The bulb is located under the sheet metal "floor" on the left.

  11. After you replaced the bulb, re secure the reflector and the sheet metal floor with the single screw. Test the bulb by plugging in your microwave.
  12. Once you see that the bulb works. Unplug your microwave again and re attach the front grill. You are now done.
I hope this helps to solve your problem.

Good luck.
