How to switch a Alltel blackberry to work with Verizon

You can take the device to Verizon to see if they can activate it with their frequency. Since they handle CDMA devices as the Motorola E815.

There really isn't an easy way. But, you do have a few options. If the Scoop is still active on the network, you can send each contact to your bberry as a vcard. Highlight contact, choose menu, send as vcard. You may be able to use a program like PPPIM Backup or similar to archive the contacts to a storage card, then move the storage card to the bberry.

Quickest way would be to take it into an Alltel / Verizon store and let them transfer the contacts for you. There is also a contacts backup application that stores contacts on the server for you, and allows you to restore to replacement / different phone. This one only works if scoop is still on network (activated).

Alltel was aquired by Verizon. Call Verizon customerservice. It may not be possible to use the phone with verizon though. Alltel was GSM and Verizon is CDMA.

if youre trying to program your alltel phone number on a verizon phone yet keep your alltel service its not going to work. the phones are locked to the carriers and cannot be unlocked. depending on where your cellphone number is based out of your serivce will most likely turn into verizon anyway. but as far as i know right now you cannot use the verizon phones.
i could be wrong, i live in an area that is going to become AT&T not verizon.

you cannot use a verizon phone on an alltel plan. you have to switch over to verizon to make that phone work. i tried getting a chocolate to work on alltel too and they would not do it.

The phone should not be locked. Verizon phones will work on Alltels network. Once it is on the Alltel network you just need to update the PRL. Alltel phones use Alltels network and Verizons network so it really should not matter what name is on the phone.

there isn much reason to unlock your cdma device, will only work with verizon, alltel and such companys like that. but if you feel the need to search unlock code 8330 on ebay and you will find many vendors willing to do so.

You cannot unblock it. They have SAID, now this is also a rumor which i'm about to talk about, that you can go into the phone, and hack into it and change a SEEM edit inside of it. But ALLTEL can find out about it if something were to ever go wrong, if they really wanted to, and void every warrenty on the phone that they could think of. So essentially, you may not unblock it. Your stuck. All LG's do this at ALLTEL, and US Cellular and Verizon as well, so it's not just Alltel. The only phones that are still able to do so is Blackberry, Motorola, and the Windows Mobile phones i do beleive. Also, if you receive one through a Picture Message, and you save it, Alltel also blocks it as well. Several friends of mine have alltel, and hate their new LG's.
