The dishwasher is not draining. The pump runs as water sprays during the wash cycle. total silence when I think it should drain. hose is not clogged. Do you think it might be related to the timer or to the drain pump assy? could it be many other things?

I have the same problem with my Zanussi DW 917. It washes OK but doesn't drain the dirty water away at the end of the cycle.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers

Hi Dishwashers usually run on 115-volt or 120-volt power. The water they use comes directly from the water heater, and wastewater is drained into the sink's drainpipe. The dishwasher is not connected to the cold-water supply. For best dishwashing results, set the temperature control of the water heater to no less than 140 degrees Farenheit. Water cooler than this usually doesn't get the dishes clean, unless your dishwasher is a newer model that preheats incoming water. The water shutoff for the dishwasher is typically located below the adjoining sink.

Frigidaire FFBD2403LW normal cycle hum

Hello ddux97 - Often this occurs because either not enough water is being pumped to the spray arm or in other words the full flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. Will the spray arm rotate freely? If it does not, then you might have to remove or replace the spray arm assemblies since it is possibly damaged. Confirm that the drain hose is strapped up properly under the sink to prevent the water from siphoning out during the cycle. If issue persists, I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if the unit's status has changed successfully.

Drain Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

I have a whirlpool Adp8540 that seems to go through the wash cycle completely but when we open it up the water has not gone through the spraying arms and the soap is a solid mass at the bottom of the...

It is likely the water circulation system is faulty. This dishwasher uses a single motor to run the water pump and the drain pump. If you hear the wash pump operate during wash cycle then it is likely there is a blockage in the water circulation manifold which distributes the water through the arms.

If you do not hear the pump operate during wash cycle then the sensor is faulty. The sensor tells dishwasher to switch to drain cycle from wash cycle.

DISHWASHER

faults not related i would think is there a low humming noise when supposed to be wsahing? if so this is the motor capacitor faulty in all probability. this is a cheap part and easy to replace. otherwise, check if power to pump. if no power then points to a module fault. if there is power, points to a motor fault

The dishwasher in my kitchen doesn't seem to drain and it seems pump is not working

I INSTALLED A NEW GARBAGE DISPOSER AND THEN FOUND THAT THE DISHWASHER WOULD NOT DRAIN. READ THAT THERE WAS A SEAL IN THE NOZZLE OF THE GARBAGE DISPOSER THAT HAS TO BE REMOVED IF IT IS ATTACHED TO A DISHWASHER. I DISCONNECTED THE HOSE,WITHOUT REMOVING THE GARBAGE DISPOSER, PLACED A SCREWDRIVER IN THE HOLE AND HIT IT WITH A HAMMER AND KNOCKED IT OUT. REPLACED THE HOSE AND TIGHTENED THE RING AROUND THE HOSE. TURNED THE DISWASHER TO DRAIN AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY. MY MISTAKE FOR NOT READING THE DIRECTIONS THOROUGHLY. ALL IS WORKING WELL; HOPE THE SAME FOR YOU.
