Stanton ST150 turntable won't spin

Hello-
I recently purchased 2 Stanton ST 150 turntables and after setting them up found that one of them won't spin. All the lights turn on but when you hit the start/stop button nothing happens. When you gently push the turntable it is hard to move while my other functional turntable rotates easily. I am afraid one of the magnets may have shifted during shipping...is there any way to realign the magnets or fix this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello DeKay,

I just had a spindle lock issue this past Sunday at my gig. I had the turntables out in my car and brought them in. I let then warm up for 2hrs before plugging them in.

Everything was good. Then mid set my right side turntable started spinning really fast and then DEAD STOP.

I was pushing the platter and it really hard to turn. I took off the platter and tried to turn it with my hand. It was dead locked, WTF?!!

So I limped through with one turntables since I use Traktor Scratch Pro and made it through the whole night successfully.

I searched the net and it was suggested to lubricate the 1200 spindle with 15W40 motor oil. Since the motor design is indentical, I picked up some 10W40 motor oil since I couldn't find 15W40.

I oiled both turntables to be on the safe since. I tapped the spindle on the locked turntable to help loosen it.

I drove back home which is pretty much an hour drive and let the tables sit for another 2 hrs.

I decided to grab a thick towel and vice grips to work on the locked spindle.

Clamping down on the towel with the vice grips on the brass fitting for the platter I was able to free the spindle quite easily.

I was then able to turn it by hands so I did in both forward and reverse directions to work the oil down into the spindle bearings.

I put the platter back on and spun it manually to check for resistance, it was spinning nicely!

Plugged in the turntable, set the pitch at 0 and watched the stobe dots. There was no waver in the strobe dots. YAAAAAAAY!

My turntable is back to new and since I only use them on the road they stay stored most of the time.

So I would suggest just oiling the spindles every so often to keep them tip top.

Hope this helps you!

Peace,
DJ Quartz

Stanton st.150 turntable sins unevenly

That is a lack of maintenainance, but your real problem is that your

voltage regulator from -24 en 24v gets to hot, since the stanton has crappy everything, where cheap build and often the components aint screw against the cooling block, so first check that and well , there about 60 crappy su\'scon caps that needs replacement. It\'s a tt from hell with the useless weight. Your system started spinning hard, cause the thermal protection started to work. Overheating, since most peoples set the start and stop torque set at the highest point, and with the small cooling blocks you get a problem and by pressing the platter, you ask for more current and that was just too much, if your bearings were that bad you assume , you have heart a lot more noice.

Stantonst.150 turntable platter spins unevenly

Well, you have the rotor, which has above the conus where you put your platter on. But the rotor needs to be kept in space, so it can spin,
which offcourse in the is done by (too soft) bearings, but the bottom of the the rotor(which looks the same as the 'pin' where you put you vinyl on, just leans on a piece of metal, instead of a technics where it falls in a shaft too keep it is place.
You undestnd that the strength on the bearings of a st150 is much higher, especially when scratching. Besides that, the high torque works 0,2 sec and then an optocoupler samples the speed of the rotor. And it's easy:on the underside of the rotor ,there's a plastic round disc puled over the rotor and kept on his place by a plate and 3 screws, with on the outside just

Stanton ST 150 motor will not turn on but all lights on deck flash?

If you have misc LEDs that are flashing without due cause and a motor, I'm betting a Direct Drive motor, that won't spin, I would same you have a damaged microprocessor(computer) within your table that's bad. Stanton st150 spindle

Yes that's normal since the spindle leans of a thin metal plate , which you simetimes had to lubricate. Check if one ain't pushed don a bit (remove backplate of motor cap in the unit, four screws and lubricate it with thinker paste, since it has no storage zone, the same fault that technics has. And hit the plate it the middle, if it ain't flat anymore( not to hard to begin with and stop when it's flat. Push against the spindel and check that everything moves free.then check the tiny imbuss that keep the inning wheel at its's place , if you had easy movement, then it was loose , soo screw it a bit loose , hold the spindle from above and push it straight up and tied in thisosition. check if everything i s free again and close everything and screw it together, But a bit height differences doesn' t matter, why would it?as long everything runs free, they need to have space, so after these checks and lubriication which you have to do allways once a year at least and heavy stratcher more, but they din't use stantonJust relax

My turntable won't spin - the spindle is fine and it makes half hearted efforts to move but will only **** a few times and then stop.

The self-lubricating bushing in the turn-table is dried out. This is a difficult problem to solve and best left to an expert. Don't expect great results.

The 45rpm speed select button will not work

the 45 button is known as a push button switch. If the switch is affect, replacing should remedy, but it could be possible that the voltage variation on the motor is affected.

keep me posted.
