It could be the thermostat is defect, an overheat protection is defect and does not close while the temperature is low enough. or the heater is defect.
When the heater and grill are separated, please try the grill. If it does not work I think the thermostat is defect. Most of the time there is no extra fuse in the oven.
When the oven is working on 2 or 3 separate groups, please check if one of the mains fuses has tripped.
For anyone experiencing this issue, grill won't stay alight or it does but goes out after few seconds or minutes and won't stay running.
this item is so overlooked however check the FSD is actually in the flame and getting hot, check your flame is consistent the same size burn across all the burner and if you changed the FSD and checked its all in order then its the grill door micro switch.
yes there is a small microswitch that cuts off the circuit to the FSD and shuts gas off if the door is closed. This microswitch goes bad from the heat and causes the issue.
Normally the grill is completely separate to the oven. Press the ignitor before you turn on the grill, as, to ignite, oxygen needs to be present (ie: not flooded with gas) . and you should be able to see the spark from the ignitor in the grill. if you can't, then you may have problems with your ignition pack or ignition leads.
If you operate the grill with door closed, cut-out will come into operation and the grill will not light. pull oven out of the wal,l undo the screws that are in the galvanized cover, lift up the cover and press the red reset button. put it all back together & it should be okay.
First things first. The oven element is totally separate to the grill element. The clock has to have a time set for either the top or bottom oven to work, whereas the grill will work without the clock being set.
The control knob for the top oven is the ONLY control that will turn the top oven lights on, the grill does not turn the lights on. ( If you want to watch your toast, you have to turn the top oven switch on to the first setting as well as operating the grill control).
To prevent the grill being operated with the door shut, there is a micro-switch on the door hinge that allows the grill to operate ONLY when the door is down. The grill control also does not illuminate unless the door is down. There are two options on the grill control - right or left. One way is the inner element only and the other is both inner and outer ones.
So if you have done all that and it still doesn't work, then the micro-switch could be faulty.
Best of luck

Hi there.. I Just recently had the same problem, also with a diplomat gas oven.. The problem I found was down to a small resetable component under the main cover. .. It took me ages to find the problem and I had taken the whole electical parts of the oven to bits before 'accidentaly' coming across this 'thermal switch' (located inside the main cover, at the top, behind the display module).. - to reset this there is a tiny red button between the connectors.. press this - and it should all be fine again... : One importnat note is that this may be tripping as a consequence of the fan not running or by my thinking not running on after the oven is switched off, leaving the casing to heat up and then trip this switch component.. - if this component is faulty it can be found in RS components or Farnell components.. look for Thermal swich manual reset part no: L100C 9082 470.
I have a Hygena 920 twin oven and grill .The electrical element in the grill started to droop several months ago, now it has stopped working . the element has burnt through. Could this have caused a fire?
I should like to know if it is possible to get a spare element and fit it myself. What would be the cost of the element? Thanking you in anticipation.
Mr J. Walden
diplomat softline grill will not light (after door was closed while light)
