This is coming form the application that is printing,  the printer has no way of "pulling" this information.  Print from a different application to verify,  say your internet browser.  When you post back what application+version+OS  is adding this infomation,  someone here can tell you how to configure it.
I lke the Canon printers, and wish I had discovered before the last 6 HP's I eventually threw out.  How do like the printer?

I don't have word 2002, and MS changes where things are from version to version. I'd look in File, Print Settings.  Microsoft's standard solution is for you to buy newer version of  Office, since it will be practically impossible to find one of the only 3 people at the company that could answer this ... don't do it.

I can solve for you in another way,  you could download openOffice a free open source package that reads/writes MS word  documents, spreadsheets, powerpoint and a bunch of other stuff.  Additionally I think it's more reliable and has less of the oddball type of thing you have run into.   See link below, versions for PC, Mac Linux and more.

    http://download.openoffice.org/

This is a quality package, you might like it, and it's free forever.  Yeah!   It works just like Word, Excel, Powerpoint ... except for the glitches;~)

good luck, and if you like Open Office, I'll tell you about other quality free software ( there's a lot of it these days ).  Also if you like it, tell your friends to stop supporting buggy MS Office and to try OO.

    good luck

Afraid not! Windows often saves a document automatically if it is recent. Go to Start>My Documents.
If that fails try a Search for the title of the doc.

Whenever I print from there is an extra page that prints after that includes: Filename: Directory: Template: Title: Author: Keywords: Comments: Creation Date: Change Number: Last Saved on: Last...

when you go to "print" a box should open asking if you want to print "all" or "pages" . click on "page" and then click "1" then you wont get the trailing page.

Pages are printing, but part of the page has really light, some unreadable printing while rest of page is fine. What do I need to do/change?

If the colors on printed and copied documents are too light, blurry or not as bright as expected follow the steps listed below:
1. Verify the toner save mode is turned Off. When you set the toner save feature to On, print appears lighter.
a. Press Menu, 1 (General Setup), 6 (Ecology), 1 (Toner Save).
b. Press the up or down arrow key to select OFF and then press OK.
c. Press Stop/Exit.
2. Print a document from your computer or print a demo page by pressingthe FAX and COPY keys at the same time.

If you are using Microsoft Word, click Tools and then Options.

Once the Options windows pops-up, click the Print tab and UNCHECK Document Properties.

Document properties - Prints the document's summary information on a separate page after printing the document. Word stores summary information on the Summary tab (File menu, Properties command).

Printer prints first page with strange nonsensical characters

I would move the printer to another computer. See if the problem follows. I have seen the issue a few times with issues in normal.dot but also in other office applications.

Problem I'm fighting with on my 1720 is its printing extra pages between pages. basically print a 5 page document and get an 8/9 page final with the extra blank pages. Think its a user error but could be machine related. going to try it on another PC and see what happens.
