How do i connect a Blu-ray player to my TV

I have a Toshiba colorstream TV that uses the RCA cables. My sister just bought me a 3D Blu-ray player. I purchaed a HMDI cable that had an HMDI connection on one end and only three RCA connectors on the other end. That cable did not work - no picture or even sound. So basicly my question is how do I connect this Blu-ray to my Color stream (it has 5 RCA connectors - red, white, blue, green, yellow) T.V.

It should connect best to the one with blue, green, red and then the two for sound--red and white---This is component hookup.

once connected you select the input via the remote or menu..

The ones with the yellow, white and red are composite (yellow is video and color and red/white are audio---doubt it will work off blue ray unless similar outputs on that.

SOURCE: connecting dvd/vcr combo with tv and digital cable box.

You trying to put the DVD/VCR combo between the cable box and the TV? OK, cable out goes to vcr in, vcr out goes to tv, I think you got that. Now there should be a tv/vcr button on the vcr/dvd, you need to press that when the unit is on. Also, make sure you are on the correct input on both the vcr and the tv, usually video 1 or AUX and choose line in or L1 on the vcr/dvd. If the tv/vcr button is toggled, itll completely bypass the vcr/dvd player.

SOURCE: Toshiba Color Television....now picture is black and white

Good day.
The missing color issue can be resolved by resoldering the loose contacts in your units circuitry. Your unit is still worth to be fixed.

Response is highly appreciated.

SOURCE: Red tint while using component cables

Disconnect component cable while observing screen, just to make sure that is your problem. If it is and you already substituted the dvd player and it still happens,, try replacing the cable, it may be defective. If it still happens there may be some kind of a processing defect with the component input of your tv, why not just return to RCA's

Philips quadrasurf TV

Analogue TV reception has nothing to do with signals from Blu-ray players.

Connect your Blu-ray player to either a HDMI port on the TV, or use a HDMI to DVI adapter (which is picture only) and supplement it with a a connection for audio via RCA/phono- or RCA/phono to jack cable from the BD player to the TV.

Press the AV Input button on the remote to cycle through the input sockets.

I just wanted to know how to hook up my lg 3d blue ray player. i'm not home so i can look at anything. I need to know how many HDMI cords I may need to plug in my tv, digital cable box, the a/v...

You can do this two ways.

Way #1 connect your cable box to your a/v receiver with one hdmi cable. Connect your blu ray player to your a/v receiver with a second hdmi cable. Lastly, connect a third hdmi cable from the a/v receiver to the television. (3 hdmi cables needed this way)

Way #2 connect your cable box to your television with one hdmi cable. Connect your blu ray player to your television with a second hdmi cable. Connect your a/v receiver to your television with a RCA/composite a/v cable or with a fiber optic cable. Connect your cable box to your a/v receiver with a fiber optic cable or RCA/composite a/v cable. Lastly connect your blu ray player to your a/v receiver with a fiber optic or RCA/composite a/v cable. This method takes 2 hdmi cables and three sets of fiber optic and or RCA/composite a/v cables.

Can't get more specific than that without having the a/v receiver's model number, type of cable box, and television model number. Hope this helps.

Dvd is grainy picture

You can use your old on, but I am guessing it doesn't have progressive scan. If it does, make sure to hook it to your TV using a component cable.( RED GREEN BLUE ) Then you will have to hook the audio up seperately with a standard red and white RCA cable. Do nt try to use a standard RCA video cable in the place of a componenet cable. Once you have the compnent (RGB) cable and RCA (RW) cable hooked to the TV, check the DVD menu and make sure it is set to Progressive Scan. If you want the best picture for your HDTV. I highly reccomend a blu-ray disc player. That is the highest quality. There are some prety good upconverting DVD players out there. They take the 480p signal and upconvert them to 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. These have HDMI outputs and connect quickly and easily to the TV you have. Most of them can be purchased for less than 100 bucks. But this would be your second best option. Before you shell out 400 bucks on a blu-ray player, go to a rental company and rent a blu-ray player. Once you see the quality of blu-ray, I think you will run out and buy one!
