My HP laserprinter always printed/copied with a light black streak evey few inches in the background, but now it got much worse darker and thicker and makes the pages unreadable. The streak goes horizontally across the paper as if coming from the roller, but when I take the cartridge out and look at the visible roller and wipe it, it appears clean. Is their a user's way to approach/correct this problem?
The defect repeats just over every 1.5", so it falls closest to Print Cartridge 1.48" and also Fuser(Fixer Assembly what's that?) at 1.61" so with that information, now what?? Still how do I fix it.The defect repeats just over every 1.5", so it falls closest to Print Cartridge 1.48" and also Fuser(Fixer Assembly what's that?) at 1.61" so with that information, now what?? This may not always be the solution, but in my case it was. If you are getting black streaks on your copies, try this first:
The problem is that that there a small piece of glass that the doc feeder use's to scan the original. You will have to clean the small glass it's about a half of a inch piece and is normally under the doc feeder unit. It will either be to the right side of the main copy board glass or it is under the doc feed unit where the paper goes down through the feeder. It is mostly some white out or other residue, on the glass, just clean with a monitor wipe or take a cloth & wipe, etc...... Good Luck Online tip from Chris Coughlin, but I changed a few of his words.
Hi:
After replacing the cartridge it is mandatory that you do a cleaning cycle and head alignment to insure the cartridge is aligned properly for printing.
Streaks (thicker lines) indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located behind the green drum inside the cartridge. As the printer has 4 cartiridges, you have to identify the faulty one. You may replace the cartridge or get the PCR Roller changed by a professional.
Let me know if any further clarification is required. Hope this helps!
Sounds like a bad fuser. To check it out - print a few pages, as the printer prints open the cover(the one that you open to get at the toner).Remove the toner. Look at the page that is facing up. if it has streaks on it - change the toner. If it looks clean, change the fuser.
