When I set my camcorder to record mode, I"m seeing some vertical colored lines on screen. When I try to record, I'm not seeing anything except these vertical lines. Playback of sound and video is good.
I want to take the view finder from a sears camcorder and connect it to A Toshiba camcorder, which has a evf cable,so I have to translate the colored wires, they both have the same number and color of wires, except one has an orange and the other a gray, will this work?I want to take the view finder from a sears camcorder and connect it to A Toshiba camcorder, which has a evf cable,so I have to translate the colored wires, they both have the same number and color of wires, except one has an orange and the other a gray, will this work?

you may have a faulty camera there,,,or the vcr tape may be faulty and has spred some of the tape on the recording head try running a cleaning tape through the vcr first to clean the heads,,then use a new tape (not the old tape!) to try that out,, if its cleans the head up throw away the old tape so you never put it back in this vcr
If camcorder shows old recorded tapes picture with correct colors in LCD but does not show live view in camera mode to record new movie then its ccd imager chip failure.
And if camcoder shows live view and old recorded tapes in its eye piece view finder but does not show any thing in LCD the its problem of broekn/ cracked flexible wire between lcd board and main board of camcorder.
Let me know your finding with bit detail to provide you solution/ helpful info.
If the lines appear on the tape this way when it is recorded, then the CCD unit is going out on the camcorder. If it isn't recording the lines then the viewfinder wiring or screen is damaged.
You should problably take it into a camera shop to see if its worth fixing.
If you are in record mode, and you are aiming your camcorder at the TV, you are going to get lines across the screen because the TV and camcorder have different frame rates and you can see this difference when you record a program through the lens of the camcorder. You need to have a camcorder and TV that have the same frame rate, but I don;t think that is viable for the home.
some contact info for JVC.

being a fact that JVC camcorders are very trouble prone, it would probably be a better ideal & cheaper to buy a new camcorder.
for your next camcorder purchase, i would stay away from anything made by JVC.
I'm positive the camera needs to be cleaned. The recording heads sound like they are dirty and it doesn't matter what tape is placed in there, whether it's new or not.
Purchase a cleaning tape from a consumer electronics store. Make sure you read the directions very carefully. The tape actually rubs the recording heads so you only want to do it for a short time to avoid damage.
Let me know how it goes.
I had this problem a lot on Labtops. The problem is that it has been unliquifed in the screen. This means that the screen has been damaged or has got really hot. Also its has been on for along time. LCDs go bad real quick and can be a hassle when you need the infomation in the thing and have no display. When I had this problem on my labtop, I used the external bay to use another monitor so I can work on it. So I say that nothing can be done to fix it. The only way to see your stuff on there is to use the video out on the recorder and try to check your stuff. That multicolor lines you saw is becoming major right now in LCD displays. I hope this solves your problem.
